Yes, I forgot about the Korean ship. I need to go back and watch the last few minutes of the movie. Thanks all!
Maybe so but still, what was the ending? He made it home fine since he never left the ship? Or because of hallucination he left ship trying to save imaginary spider/friend and then died?? When was recording made that was end of film???
I don't even know what the ending was! So did he make it back to the ship or die in space? Was the last scene sometime way before?
Oh, forgot, Bill had a heart problem as well! That's what made him almost pass out.

Except in the book Jake goes in through the back door (after Bill basically almost passed out because he has the stomach flu Jake had) through the kitchen and ends up shooting Frank but Frank knocks the gun out of his hand and almost ends up killing Jake with the sledge hammer before Bill comes in through the front door and stabs Frank from behind, killing him. Totally different (like so many other things) from the book so I certainly don't think that would have been the way the OP visualized it when reading the book. It certainly wasn't for me!
It wasn't even Jake who killed him, it was Bill. There was no upstairs nor garrote used for the killing.
I agree wholeheartedly!! I understand what others said about always being a difference in a book and a movie, or miniseries in the case. But I've read several books which were then made into movies that I watched and none disappointed me as much as this. For instance, usually I can at least see a reason for a change in the movie. In this case, especially with the book being almost 900 pages, I certainly expected much less detail but it seems the script writer just wanted to change stuff for the hell of it. With any part of the series that does happen to match the novel, even the way that got to that point was totally different! Here's a good example, in the novel, the Glen Miller song Jake and Sadie dance first dance to is "In The Mood". In the series, it's "Little Brown Jug". Why would you "need" to change that for the series?? They are both Glen Miller recordings, I wouldn't think the fee for using the music would be that different.
