Since 2008 financial crisis, schools found out they were vulnerable so they started sources ways to recover costs and generate revenue. In comes the Chinese students which were at first temp. but soon they saw how much profits could be made and here we are now, training China to be world leader and low and behold, 2nd largest economy and only getting better as we teach the nearly 1 million Chinese international students. I can see why the right wants to stop this type of corruption in academia. College rankings are also rigged. No wonder the left wants migrants so badly, they tapped into the wealth source of either cheap labor or rich families abroad. They'll even educate dictator families.

There is also the labor market overly valuing college brand credentials and not giving enough chance to the people who learn outside the standard college education system. Anyone can learn pretty much anything at very low cost today, and that is a direct threat to the college system as a whole (as long as its purpose is to make money).
