"Marry someone has as much in common with you as possible."
The one exception to this rule covers personalities by themselves. Some people are happier with someone who has the opposite personality to them, but they still have a ton of other things in common at the same time, and that includes political parties. It's better to marry someone who follows the same political beliefs as you do. There's more harmony in the house as a result.

And it's true. Even if the person you like isn't attractive the way society says they should be, if their personality is wonderful and a perfect fit for both of you, they will look far more attractive to you personally than someone who's good-looking, but a horrible person. It's why people like Willem Dafoe and Danny Trejo were still able to find wives and have kids with them.
