Sorry Im a day late.
Whats up guys!

Again, let's discuss the movies we saw. Simple.

Mine:
Skiptrace (2016 Netflix): A soulless and over used plot with terrible dialogues and average action. I obviously expected another "good guy, bad guy" comedy movie but I was really interested in seeing Jackie Chan and Johnny Knoxville together. I thought they might do a great duo. But they had to go with the serious cop with a mean attitude along with the irresponsible and goofy criminal. It was never really funny, never really interesting. The settings were nice and the cinematography was not too bad. This one will most likely disappear from my memory with the years. And note that I'm a big Jackie Chan fan. 4.5/10

Harry Brown: A solid violent-drama although I'd say it leans more on the drama side. Great acting, simple but effective story and a good ending. 7/10

Equilibrium (2002 DVD): First thing I have to get off my chest is that the actor playing the bag guy is one of the biggest miscast I've ever seen. Not that it had to be a mean looking dude but just someone with a certain stature, this one lacked credibility and charisma. The story was very original and would've been easy to fail but I think they succeeded in living up to the idea. It's like a mix between The matrix and Brazil plus it has one of the coolest love story ever. 7.5/10

The matrix (1999 DVD): Its the first time I rewatch this since a long time and I only remembered the big scenes. I think I enjoyed it more this time, I might've lacked the maturity back then. Science fiction is not among my favorite genres but this one is among the best of them. An amazing story that unfolds perfectly with a superb cinematography and kick ass action. 8.5/10

The matrix: Reloaded (2003 DVD): Firts time ever seeing this one and I was a bit skeptic but finally it's not bad at all. The story might not be as great as the first but I think everything worked pretty well. The action was still good but sometimes the CGI was a bit too obvious and over the top. The scene where they have sex while everyone is dancing was trippy and sensual, I liked it. Good entertainment. 7/10

The Matrix: Revolutions (2003 DVD):
Although this one is more like your classic action-scifi, it's still entertaining and I found that they balanced the story and the action pretty well. And that was my main fear. There was also a lot more characters and it brought a certain breath of fresh air. A good ending to what might be one of the most important and defining sci-fi trilogy of the last 30 years. 7/10

GI Joe rise of the cobra (2009 TV): I saw the sequel twice but I had yet to rewatch this one and frankly I think I prefer the sequel. Its okay for some mindless action but as an eternal fan of the toys and TV show, it does not live up to the hype. Also, Tatum kinda sucked and with Wayans, he makes a strange combination. 5/10

I can't remember that far back but I DO remember watching "Brimstone" on March 10th when it first came out. I loved it!

I'm really looking forward to Brimstone. Probably going to watch it next week. Last week I watched "33", "Bernie" and "2 Guns". I can't remember what else I watched.

33 - I was pretty good. Surprisingly a feel good movie. I've always liked Antonio Banderas. 7/10

Bernie - Liked it much more now than I did the first time. Might be Jack Black's best performance. 7,5/10

2 Guns - Forgettable action film but still watchable. 6/10

Yeah, Brimstone is one of those "not for everyone" films but, since I'm such a die hard Guy Pearce fan, it was a "must see" film for me! I waited over a year, since they first announced it, to see it on the big screen and was totally bummed to see that it was nowhere even remotely playing in ANY theatre near me. The closest place I found was Los Angeles...what the crap!!?? I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area...over 400 miles away! But...at least I got to see it on Comcast's OnDemand, which aired the same day as the release date, but still, I really, really, really wanted to see it at the theatre! I've watched it twice so far.

It's a long film, 2:28:43 to be exact, but it kept me interested the whole time. Guy Pearce and Dakota Fanning were outstanding! Guy was so evil too. He makes for a great villain...in so many films! He was an awesome villain in "Lawless", what a great film that was too! Also, "The Rover", another "not for everyone" made in Oz film, set in a post-apocalyptic world that I thought was great! Have seen it about 10 times at least.

Anyways, if you like the "not for everyone" types of films, I think you may like "Brimstone", it has a lot of violence towards women and children and is divided into 4 chapters, Revelation, Exodus, Genesis and Retribution and is played in a mixed up way. Hmmm...all this talk about it makes me want to watch it right now...again...lol. Well, hope you like it if you do see it. 😊

Brimstone is brand new, just came out March 10th. I really enjoyed it but it IS pretty violent.

Have seen The Matrix and The Matrix: Revolutions but, somehow, never saw The Matrix: Recharged. Not sure how that happened but, oh well, I need to re-watch them anyway cause I don't remember them well. I'll also make sure to see the second Matrix as well. The other films you listed, I haven't seen.

Some say Brimstone is long, slow and boring. Personally, I think those people have a problem...or a very short attention span. I was glued to the screen the whole time because the story sucked me in. It IS a bit long and slow but it's the story that makes your mind absence of time. It never felt like it was 2:28:43 long to me.

After you see it, post on the Brimstone board and let me know if you liked it. I already want to see it again...I'm gonna get "Brimstone" burnout...lol!

Oh and you definitely need to see reloaded because there is what might be the most important scene of the three movies near the end of the film.

Huge Guy Pearce fan too. Have you seen "The Time Machine"? I still have a few of his to catch up on (like "Lawless"), while others I've re-watched until known by heart. "The Rover" was good (would rather say great since I am such a fan).

I do, that, and the length of a movie aren't a deterrence.

Awesome! Finally I've found someone who shares the same interest in Guy Pearce as I do! 😄 Yes, I've seen "The Time Machine" and very much enjoyed it! I actually liked it better than the original. "Lawless" is awesome, I think you'll enjoy it! Guy is made up really ugly in that one...lol. He has black hair, short and slicked back tightly and virtually no eyebrows. He looks really freaky...and mean as hell!! 😲 Tom Hardy is in it also, and Gary Oldman had a small part in it...kind of a waste to see such a great actor with such a small part, but he was still awesome! 😄

Glad you like the "not for everyone" types of films. Often times I find them to be much better than popular, blockbuster films.

I liked and loved most of these but there's about a handful that I didn't care for. I've still got about maybe 10 or more films of his, not in the list, that I haven't seen yet.

OMG and he sings great too! I love his voice, speaking and singing! His first album, Broken Bones, was released in 2013 or 14, all original songs that he wrote himself. It's a great album!! I found this old music video on YouTube last night, called "The Promise" that he did when he was, looks to be in his late 20's to early 30's. Awesome and powerful voice in this song! He's also a master at rarely blinking, (e.g. The Rover), and he's like that in this video too...just a piercing and mesmerizing gaze straight at you the whole time...he blinks a few times but you can't help but be drawn in and captivated by his gaze...it's absolutely awesome! He has the most gorgeous, super blue eyes too...wish they were in colour in this video. Here's the link. The Promise

Ya think? LOL! I totally LOVE Guy! When I first saw Ravenous years back, I totally crushed on him and have been deeply hooked ever since! I binge watched everything Guy was in that I could get my hands on and have re-watched several films many times. Don't reckon I'll ever get off my high with Guy! LoL...he even makes me rhyme. 😉

Oh sure, I'll say I love other actors too...but nothing in comparison to Guy...he's like a god to me, I worship him. 😄💕💕 So glad you're a huge fan too! 😄😄🎆🎉🎊🎆

I'm also a huge Guy Pearce fan. My favorites are Ravenous and LA Confidential. I remember seeing Ravenous at the theater and being completely surprised at the turn it took. I had no idea in the least what that movie was going to be about. I loved it. Also Momento was outstanding. Well, as I go down your list, I realize I need to see more of his films.

Awesome DrM! It's so nice to share the same interests with like minded people! Yes, those films you named are excellent. "Ravenous" was definitely different, I fell in love with that film...and with Guy and then binge watched all the films of his that I could. I had re-watched "L.A. Confidential", shortly after watching "Ravenous", And payed waaaaay more attention to Guy that time! I liked him in "L.A. C." the first time I saw it but, since it was his US debut film, I didn't know who he was so I was a little unsure of him at the time. But when I saw ravenous, that triggered something in me...it was like "instant love"! I love "Memento" too!

You definitely MUST see more of his films. In "Lockout", he looks very different...a remarkable resemblance to Mark Wahlberg...and he's huge cause he went to the gym and bulked up for the film. Wish there had been a scene of him without a shirt! 😲

Did you know Guy was a bodybuilder in high school? When he was 16, he entered the school's bodybuilder contest and...I believe he said he won once or twice. I would have to find that info again to know for sure. So now, he's familiar with the equipment in gyms and knows how to bulk up for films. He says it's hard work and he has to drink a lot of shakes, so he really hates having to do all that. He also said it's easier for him to lose weight than it is to put it on...lucky him. 😒 I reckon when he had to thin himself out a lot, like in "The Proposition" and "The Rover", he probably had no trouble doing that.

Anyways, get busy watching his films, lots of good one's to see! 😄😄

Yeah, that was a pretty good clip...lol. I know, Guy is normally average to thinnish but when he bulks up, it's like day and night. He mentioned in an article, I read, that he went a little overboard for "Lockout" to get super bulked up more so than in any other film he's done. He worked out for many months to achieve it too...and, from the looks of him in that film, I don't doubt that for a minute! He looked awesome in "Lockout"! But, no matter his size, he IS definitely a very handsome man! 😍😍

DrM...I agree about the "zero promotion" thing with so many films!

This film came out in 2012 and is a bit on the cheesy side but I thoroughly enjoyed it! And, of course, Guy was awesome in it...and funny too! I think Guy is what made the film really good. I doubt I would've watched it if it were anyone else playing the part. I don't watch a lot of Sci-Fi.

I saw Moana twice, once on Sunday and once yesterday. It was cute and nice, but not quite up to Disney standards, in my opinion. 7.5/10

It was the second time viewing it for me but a considerable amount of time had passed since the first so it was a combination of knowing what to expect somewhat coupled with much I had forgotten.
It was enjoyable in that it was somewhat nostalgic, appearing to portray that decade pretty accurately for the most part.
Also, considering what I had learned of the killer, post arrest back then, I thought he was also very accurately portrayed, down to his bizarre motive.
I had some misgivings with some of the characterizations, but overall, it was decent, even insightful entertainment, especially in the middle of the night while plagued with sleeplessness.

The Terrorist (1999, India):
A woman wrestles with the task of becoming a suicide bomber for the Tamil nationalist cause. Good movie.

The Trail of Blood (1972, Japan):
First movie of the chambara Mikogami trilogy. A former gangster in feudal Japan, named Jokichi, tries to adopt a normal life, marries and has a child and becomes a craftsman, but his family is murdered by other gangsters for offenses he committed in the past, and so he goes on a revenge crusade against the murderers of his family.

The Fearless Avenger (1972, Japan):
Second movie of the Mikogami trilogy, continues the story of Jokichi's revenge quest.

I watched Happy Valley Season 1 9/10, season 2 8/10 most of Love Season 2 9/10... Night Moves (1975) 8/10 and some Twilight Zone episodes.

It's a lot more realistic exploration of relationships than the mega popular This Is Us and super funny. I think if they picked a more appealing male lead it would've been a huge hit. I know that's Judd Apatow's thing making a hero out of a schlubby underdog but he's almost trolling the audience with the casting of Paul Rust. I guess one could argue that Woody Allen made a living out of this type of character, but he always wrote it so maybe one beautiful woman per film was attracted to him rather than four or five. Still Gillian Jacobs is great and the supporting characters are even better in the second season.

I have no problem with the male lead, but I did found the fact that a second hot chick had the hots for him was pushed. I can't say that I laughed a lot watching it but it just has a unique and original feel that I enjoyed.
