Once there was this kid who
Got into an accident and couldn't come to school

reply

Don't forget the A-team,Manimal,Unsolved mysteries. The list goes on forever! Also, don't forget Saturday morning cartoons

reply

I totally miss Saturday morning cartoons. Along with after school specials.

reply

After school specials!! They were corny but in a great way

reply

Even the tv movies were pretty decent. Now all we seem to get are the cheesy hallmark, lifetime, or syfy movies.

reply

Oh my gosh I had such a crush on the Manimal guy. lol

reply

Columbo and Mc Cloud

reply

Magnum P.I, The fall guy, Buck Rogers

reply

Yeah, I liked Magnum P.I. as well. And the Rockford Files, one of my favorites.

reply

They were great! Unfortunately shows like the Jeffersons and All in the family would be boycotted because of all the PC people nowadays

reply

I still watch Columbo on Sunday nights. He was brilliant. One of the best characters ever on television.

reply

Yes !

reply

Come on, tv shows today are better than ever. It's the golden age of tv shows.

reply

Maybe the golden age of the internet shows but not the golden age of TV.

reply

We've become inundated with too many stupid reality shows.

reply

"We've become inundated with too many stupid reality shows."

YES!!!!!

reply

I HATE Reality tv. It is the downfall of television.

reply

I don't dislike all of it, just junk like Keeping Up With the Kardashians and Chrisley Knows Best .

reply

I can't wait until the day the Kardashians are cancelled ( or should I say kancelled haha)

reply

They make reality shows because ratings are a fraction of what they used to be. Many viewers have cut cable and use pirate sites to watch their shows. When you make a reality show all you need is a host, a good idea and a bunch of attention whores who will basically work for a minimal stipend. When the baby boomers die, there will be no one left to pay for cable programs and we'll probably end up watching youtube channels.

reply

I'm not surprised. I've been a disgruntled cable customer for some time now because of their monopolizing and outrageous price-gouging; been looking at alternatives.
Btw, what is an " attention whore ? " I've never encountered that expression before.

reply

Someone who thrives on attention... maybe posts a lot of selfies on social media. Perhaps even a narcissistic personality. Takes a certain type to want to expose yourself on national television.

reply

I get it ! I've actually dealt with many such personalities and tend to conflict with them.
I think social media actually promotes that type of behavior.

reply

I have to agree. TV shows (although NOT network) have improved amazingly over the past 10 or fewer years: the writing, character development, and production values are SO much better than they ever were. It's almost like night and day.

When I think of shows from the 70s and 80s, I can barely think of any that compare. Perhaps none. Most were actually BAD. Columbo was good, as was Night Gallery, but neither were great.

reply

Someone mentioned Columbo. That's a big favorite with me.

I'll just mention my guilty pleasures from that time....
Dallas.... Who shot JR?
Knot's Landing
Dynasty
Falcon's Crest.

reply

I watched all of those religiously :)

reply

MacGyver and Hardcastle and McCormick

reply

Let's not forget some of my favorite mini series....
Rich Man Poor Man
Roots
The Thornbirds

reply

I watched Roots and Roots: The Next Generations in February, during the Sundance Channel's 40th Anniversary Presentation. I was captivated.
I wasn't able to back then because of my work schedule.

reply

But when he finally came back
His hair had turned from black into bright white

reply

Loved Night Gallery and The Night Stalker ( Kolchak )

reply

He said that it was from when
The cars had smashed him so hard

reply

I thought the character of Kolchak ( Darren Mc Gavin ) in The Night Stalker was so unique.

reply

Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm

reply

I think he was the forerunner of our 21st century paranormal investigator.

reply

Once there was this girl who
Wouldn't go and change with the girls in the change room

reply

Interesting; never heard that before.

reply

I was just thinking of Logan's Run the other day.

reply

But when they finally made her
They saw birthmarks all over her body
