One of my favorite bands and also considered one of the greatest from the 70s until about 2009 was Rare Earth. I remember it being touted as the only black sounding white band to ever come out of Motown.

Yeah, most American music did not have the depth that English music did. I think it is due to the fact that the UK has better education, a closer knit society, just a higher level of society than America. America make so much junk TV too. Not to say all American stuff is bad, but we produce so much junk. Our countries are just different. British seem to want all their people to be smart and capable, perhaps a remnant of when they ruled the world and they needed people to go out in to the empire and manage it. In America we seem to cater to and praise stupidity and the lowest common denominator.

I liked Jethro Tull, The Who, and lots of others too. Fleetwood Mac, Led Zep. As I get older though I feel like it was a waste of time listening to and spending money on so much music.

Britain has more history and cultural foundation. The public American education system caters to the lowest common denominator.

I've been saying this for years.

The Beatles (actually 60's)

The Rolling Stones
The Kinks
Black Sabbath
Queen
The Clash
Judas Priest
Motorhead

These are just some from the top of my head.
