John Williams.

That one is gonna suck.

reply

I think one reason it won't suck as much, is symphonies will still be playing his music in 100 years. He won't be forgotten.

reply

Also they will surely have musical marathons with his scores when he dies which is always nice.

reply

I was sad when we lost Michael Kamen, and then James Horner, and I don't want it to seem like Williams is the only one that matters. There are so many great contemporary composers. Williams just provided the soundtrack to my childhood. So I will enjoy those marathons. :)

reply

Horner was extra sad because of the way it happened, he could've produced lot of more music which we are never gonna hear :-( At least Williams seems kinda done and i assume he is gonna die naturally, it's true most if not all composers has to stand in his shadow though, even when they are just as talented or maybe even better. Hans Zimmer for example made fantastic scores which i could argue can rival John.

reply

One of my favourite Zimmer soundtracks is The Power of One. He doesn't get enough love for that one.

reply

I have to listen to that.

For years and years, I continue to watch "Jeopardy!" almost daily. After Alex Trebek's announcement of having stage 4 pancreatic cancer, the realization of possibly losing someone who's been a small faucet of your life, even if you don't know them, hits hard. This news may be sudden, though at least this way he gets to go out on top should death catch up with him soon. Let's be honest: he's the soul of the show, that wry sense of humor he is so well known for.

Stephen King.

I was born the year Carrie was published. Grew up reading his stuff since about the age of 12 when my parents first let me read him.

Since Burt passed away recently, it'll be Bill Murray for me.
