Mine is taken from A Song of Ice and Fire books.

From the Aubrey-Maturin book series.

reply

Ooh that series sounds good.

reply

Not really.

reply

I was definitely trying to decipher yours. It has a nice ring to it. What was the genesis of that name?

reply

I wanted something that sounded positive and nice so i picked the word mend, then i just added something random before it so it would sound more like a name and also won't be taken on any sites :-P

reply

It kind of sounds like George RR Martin-style riffing on the name Edmund. In Game of Thrones, you can't just be named Jeffrey, no Joffrey it is. Numerous examples are like that. Your name has a Westerosy vibe.

reply

That is a compliment i guess XD

reply

It was Tommy Lee Jones character from The Fugitive

reply

Oh, there you go. I'm gonna watch that right now.

reply

I thought you were watching Shaft ??

reply

Fugitive is on the docket

reply

Nope. Random letters are less likely to be chosen

reply

Yeah I think there's a fair amount of that. I just like my own to be something name-like. I feel like I'm creating a character, or a part of me lives on digitally if I can think of them named.

reply

Are you supposed to say it in any particular way?

reply

I say each letter separately.

reply

I don't know.
You tell me.

And if anyone has to google it to find out.
You're too young for me LOL!

reply

Designer of Theo's terrible shirt on Cosby Show right?

reply

Or was his shirt a knockoff and not really a Gartrelle?

reply

His shirt was a knock off of my original, with a horrible sewing job by his sister.

reply

My name from IMDb was I
intothenightalone.

But alone made it too long here.

It doesn't mean anything, I just thought it sounded cool.

reply

Ooooo. 😮 Sounds mysterious to me.

reply

I just googled it,it is said in a song I've never heard of.

reply

It does sound cool. My name was different on imdb, that's all I'll say. A skinchanger needs to be a proper chameleon.

reply

So your name doesn't mean anything, eh?
And here I thought that it was a nod to the Jeff Goldblum/Michelle Pfeiffer film, Into the Night, from 1985.

That movie is definitely one of my guilty pleasure films, as I liked it a lot. The concept was a bit bizarre, but that only made it all the more fun. Some other cool things about it were David Bowie's cameo and that the four Iranians who were chasing Michelle throughout the film were played by directors David Cronenberg, Jonathan Demme, David Siegel and John Landis (who directed this film). The soundtrack was really good as well ... lots of BB King, including his song, 'Into the Night.'

Mine is the name of my hometown.

reply

It's pretty. Sounds like a Scotch or something.

reply

Glen: a narrow and deep mountain valley, esp in Scotland or Ireland.

Not so far off, are you?! 🙂

reply

I've always liked your moniker and it does conjure images of what it's based on and reminds me of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54AL_9v3iYs

reply

Aaah, I have my own theme music now! 🎵
😃

reply

Glad you like. I think that movie's score is magnificent. I actually had glen and glade a little confused but I still think it's applicable.

Roxie is sort of a variation of my real name and bohemian is what I have been.
I use to use my childhood nickname Redwillie but those wacky guys across the pond always thought it meant I had a penis.

Cool name
