I only like onions on pizza and burgers.

I don't mind them, but I don't eat them raw. I like them minced up and mixed into food. My mom puts them in a lot of things, but because they are minced, you hardly notice the flavor at all, particularly if it's canceled out by something like, oh, marinade on meat, or other spices in a gravy, etc. Green onions are very tasty in Asian and Latin American food.

One time my family was living in a custom-built house on the edge of town, and mom and I worked together to build a vegetable garden on the east and south sides of the house. Mom gave me the task of growing onions, and it was quite the learning experience. I had to harvest them early, because I didn't know you're supposed to plant the baby onions deeper in the soil than 3 inches. Most of them were slightly larger than golf balls. If you want good-sized onions like professional farmers grow, plant the baby onions really deep. It was fun, washing them off on the back porch. I lined them up, got out the hose, and sprayed them. You could smell them very clearly!
