What are some of the best documentaries?

I love good documentaries because sometimes, truth is stranger than fiction and a lot of the time, I find real life more compelling than stuff in most Hollywood movies. Here are some documentaries I’d recommend to everyone:

O.J. : Made In America (2016)

Crumb (1994)

13th (2016)

American Movie (1999)

Won’t You Be My Neighbor (2018)

Dear Zachary (2008)

The Act of Killing (2012)

Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room (2005)

General Idi Amin Dada: A Self Portrait (1974)

Amin hired Schroder to come in and film him in all his glory. See Amin out swim Olympic swimmers, talk to animals, command practice attacks against Israel, wise advice on drinking and much more! Humorous and shocking at the same time.

I always wanted to see this documentary. It's a good insight into the megalomania and fragility of tyrants.

It’s amazing that a country could have been run by such a man. In one scene he’s holding some kind of political meeting and everyone involved is sweating, and not because it’s hot.

Unfortunately such men have been around since the beginning but now we have technology to record it so we can see the madness no matter how long ago it was. Very fascinating.

Two that immediately come to mind:

Cropsey (2009) - this has been appearing in one of my movie menus recently, unsurprisingly because it's genuinely creepy and apt Halloween fare.

Super Size Me 2: Holy Chicken (2017) - provides additional insights into how corrupt the poultry industry is in addition to how disgusting.

Coincidentally, The Act Of Killing has caught my eye recently in that same menu.
