People of colour who choose white spouses to white wash their offspring

I feel like this form of self racism needs discussion.

Example, most black celebrities will choose a lighter skinned partner and breed with them. This is racism. It means that whitening their descendants is a positive thing in their heads.

Props to Obama for doing the opposite. One of the few famous men of colour with a darker wife.

This topic belongs on the politics board. Please take it there.

reply

It doesn’t belong on any board. The only place it belongs is in the OP’s twisted head. And the garbage bin.

Agreed.

My thoughts, exactly.

🙄

You're an idiot

reply

Come on, you can't be serious with this thread???

reply

Race baiting is his jam

I don’t know what black celebrities he’s even referring to. Will Smith? Denzel Washington? Jay Z? Angela Basset? Samuel L. Jackson? Ice Cube? Magic Johnson? Oprah Winfrey?

As I said, idiotic and par for the course with him.

reply

And using Obama as example while his mom was white.

reply

I can think of only one, OJ Simpson. There is a consensus that Nicole was a trophy wife, which no doubt contributed significantly to the failure of the marriage.

reply

Well, black folks marrying white or lightskinned folks as some kind of status symbol seems to be a hot topic among some of the black community especially. I guess one could try to have an honest discussion about that somewhere, but I don't think GD or even MovieChat is the place for that.

It's terms like "breeding" that make me go 😐...

reply

You're right. Black men dating/marrying white women is absolutely a major sore point among black women.

reply

I wonder how he explains interracial relationships between gay people where “breeding” is not a consideration. Actually, I don’t need to wonder, he’s made his disdain for gay people as equally clear as his his propensity to incite racial divisions through his many, many negative threads on both issues. To insinuate that calling him out on it is hypocritical is to validate his intention and only allows him to keep posting divisive crap that we can all see from the responses here alone just upsets people and sullies the experience of the forum for many.

reply

I did not insinuate such a thing whatsoever.

reply

“ let's just say that I feel there's a certain degree of hypocrisy among some members which does not contribute to the general atmosphere.”

My apologies, I must have misunderstood your meaning there.

reply

That did not refer to this thread, but the site in general.

reply

Fair enough, but surely you can understand the confusion when you chose this thread to make the comment in. Anyway the last thing I want to do is get into a bickering match with you, someone I have no issue with. That is precisely the endgame of such an inflammatory post and I won’t have a part of it. Even bumping this malarkey by responding seems wrong. I do hope I haven’t offended you though. ✌️🙂

reply

Yeah, but that comment was a reply to a different issue. As you can see, I questioned the OP's sincerity myself.

Not offended, just a misunderstanding.

reply

So....is it not possible for them to have, I don’t know, fallen in love?

reply

But have they ruled out dating/marrying/breeding with someone of their own race or darker?

reply

Is that necessary? You have to rule out everyone in your own ethnic pool before you move to a different one?

reply

You think it's a coincidence that you never see a male black celebrity with a darker woman?

reply

Perhaps they just fall in love? What about the white male celebrities with black wives or significant others?

Are there people who will never accept interracial relationships? Yes. But I think most people today simply don't care about skin color. There are more important things to consider when choosing a mate.

reply

I like you, Intothenight. But I'm disappointed with you with this topic.

reply

So now we are judging people by how dark they are? That really is racism.

reply

Not all children of mixed relationships turn out light. I have a friend who is blonde and fair with children who are dark like their father.

And honestly, wouldn't it be great if somewhere down the road everyone is so inbred that there isn't anymore of this racial crap and we all are sort of mocha?

reply

"wouldn't it be great if somewhere down the road everyone is so inbred that there isn't anymore of this racial crap and we all are sort of mocha?"

No, that wouldn't be great. I thought we were supposed to strive for more diversity???

reply

Diversity or division? Skin color shouldn't matter and I'm sure you know exactly what my point was but are attempting to twist my comment.

reply

More skin colours means more diversity. If skin colour shouldn't matter, then why would you say it's great if everyone would be "sort of mocha"???

reply

Why is color of one's skin an issue? There are many more important factors that can can contribute to diversity than color.

reply

Lol, you're turning things around! You're the one making it an issue by saying it would be great (and all racial crap gone) if everybody was mocha. I'm asking why you would want to get rid of the diversity in skin colour.

reply

I guess you are missing my point. I was using that as an example of how it would be nice if everyone was able to look past skin color by it becoming a non issue, (if everyone had the same skin tone.) It's not going to happen, so don't worry about it.

Again, diversity has nothing to do with skin color - nor should it.

reply

Lol, you need to tell that to the Oscars!

reply

Well, they are definitely a confused bunch in Hollywood.

reply

And honestly, wouldn't it be great if somewhere down the road everyone is so inbred that there isn't anymore of this racial crap and we all are sort of mocha?

No it wouldn't because that would be the end of diversity and "Diversity is our strength !" It would also be the end of redheads and that would be unforgivable.

Edit - Oh I see that Stratego made exactly the same point. Late to the party again...

PS: I think you meant interbred rather than inbred, or at least I hope you did.

reply

LOL - I stand corrected with interbred, but my point is still valid that diversity has absolutely nothing to do with the color of a person's skin - it's simply not that simple.
