Wish I had lived through the 80s and 90s

The entire era looks like a hoot.

reply

You can't troll on the internet in the 80s.

reply

Actually message boards existed in the 80s.

reply

you mean a BBS? bulletin board systems, i had one in the 80s. it was cool because since everyone was local eventually you would all meet. kinda like a real life breakfast club. different cliques that wouldnt normally interact.

you can still try BBSes through telnet:

reply

yes but you could troll them in real life

and that's always more fun

I hated the 1980s, during the 1980s! The Zeitgeist sucked! It was all "Yuppie Scum" and "Greed is Good", the worst qualities of humanity were celebrated, and the seeds of today's anti-vax anti-democracy fuck-you lunatic fringe were born.

And the popular music sucked, too.

reply

And the popular music sucked, too.

When I say this everyone gets their pitchforks out.

reply

Don't you know it! 😝

Remember, these days everyone wants their 15 minutes of outrage. It doesn't matter what it is or how insignificant it may be...😑

reply

Yep! People became selfish.

reply

Don’t forget the shoulder-pads fashion for women.

I did like big hair, though. I like to PULL her hair in the throes of dominance.

reply

Punk fashion was actually kind of fun, at least until the fashion industry started mass-marketing it. But the mainstream fashions... ugh! All the high-fashion trends of the era looked great in ads, and awful on ordinary humans.

And the makeup! Regular girls with everyday faces wouldn't go out unless they had on fifteen colors of eye shadow going all the way up to the heavy brow, huge splotches of vivid blusher, thick foundation, and bright red gloss lipstick...

reply

I agree, Otter, but I love fucking sluts, using β€œfucking” as a verb and not an adjective. The more cake on her eyes, the more cum I give her.

Hell, at least I’m honest!

I do think women worry too much about makeup. I think society, commerce and mothers have created this condition, this insane drive to β€œbe perfect.” I think Woman is the most beautiful entity in all of Creation. She needs no embellishment. What she needs is a man who sees her as she is and adores her.

Yes. I’m a sap.

And I know about the makeup and the fashions of the era because a good friend of mine was one of the featured players on both Dallas and The Colbys.

I liked the 80s because I was still young, and was a latch key kid. I lived in a neighbourhood with a lot of kids and we had a ton of freedom. I liked the music, and I still do, but when summing up an entire decade of music, I agree that a lot of it wasn't that great.

reply

I don't really remember the 80s, but in the 90s folks were bitching and moaning "The 70s were so much better than today!!!" Here in '21, we're whitewashing the 90s

reply

I remember the 90s very well and I don't recall many people saying how much better the 70s were. I guess that depended on where you were in the 90s.

reply

I know the physical media guys will hate this, but the biggest drawback was no streaming. I like being able to watch anything I want, and not just the 25 VHS tapes I had.

reply

I hated vhs but I had a lot of them. Couldnt believe that they would come up with laserdisc, then DVD or blu ray at that time. And streaming was impossible with the slow internet connections.

reply

Yeah I think this is the biggest one. And physical media wasnΒ΄t largely accessible either. You would have to really go looking for something you wanted and you couldnΒ΄t always find it. Now just about everything is at your fingertips.

reply

Now just about everything is at your fingertips.

I THINK THAT IS A PROBLEM NOT AN ADVANTAGE.

reply

Heh. Says you who amasses 10,000 VHS tapes. You have about everything at your fingertips too! The pot calling the kettle black.

reply

WELL...I AM DEFINITELY THE POT.πŸ™‚

reply

Well you've got a lot of VHS choices to watch. I had to watch Fletch, like 50 times:)

reply

GROSS.

reply

I AM ROLLING MY EYES...REAL HARD.πŸ™„

reply

You sounds like 20db20.

reply

You just had to go to the video store. It made every movie an event, even when watched at home. I think it made us appreciate them more.

reply

90s music was definitely much better. 2000's music is the absolute worst. I'd rather listen to 50's or 60's, both of which I really dislike.

reply

The 2000s music is best if you were an emo.

reply

90s and 2000s music is the best. I grew up with it. Several 80s songs are good too.

I do however think music began going downhill drastically for me in like 2010, with only a few select artists being barable enough to like and listen to.

reply

Up to 1984 pick-up sex was relatively easy and then Aids killed all the fun.

reply

YOU CAN GET AIDS FROM A PICK UP TRUCK?...AND WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU FUCK A TRUCK?😯

reply

i remember that. we wrapped on tight.

reply

Oh my god...Are you really this stupid?

reply

Explain your stupid comment

reply

EXPLAIN YOURS.πŸ€”

reply

80s and 90s were dull. 60s were wild, fun and had great music. 70s were bizarre.

reply

I love the 90s and everything about it. I was a kid in the 90s and a teen in the 2000s.

reply

What did you find interesting about the 90s? I'm just curious.

reply

If you haven't, watch Midnight In Paris (2011) -- it debates a very interesting truth, in a manner of perspective, regarding your OP.

reply

That is a great movie. I borrowed it from the library and watched it 3x.

The debate was intriguing and true. IMHO, Allen's best movie.

reply

As someone who did... it's often weird to think just how much of a different a place the world was, back then.
