I've always figured that if things REALLY took a turn for the worse, that chickens would be more valuable than gold.

Sometimes water can be more precious than gold...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpdnpip1X4A&t=111s

reply

chickens are everywhere and breed fast, gold is finite

reply

True but if it were to get right down to caveman survival gold is useless because you can’t eat it and no one would accept if in trade.

It only has value because society says it does. Otherwise it’s another rock.

reply

Gold is for the time after the caveman survival issues. It's been valuable since the caveman times so chances are it will continue to be valuable. Society keeps coming back to the same rock every time.

reply

yes I agree but must say Gold is not a rock. it is a metal. a pure element. AU number 79 on the periodic tabel

reply

it is the most beautiful of all the rare metals. have u ever held a bar of pure 24k gold before? It is mesmerizing, you can lose hours just staring at it and watching the light bounce off it like the Golem from Lord of the Rings.

It is for people who have too much money to know what to do with and want to exchange it for a safe storage of physical wealth, that can be easily hidden, smuggled, moved between nations. If the government falls apart ur dollars will be useless paper but gold will always be gold.

All my life, I've been in love with its colour, its brilliance, its divine heaviness.

FUN FACT: just did some research on this character, apparently they dubbed his voice over. the german version has the original voice and you can see the comparison on youtube. it is a shame because the accent is awesome and sounds better the way the actor sounded himself then the dubb

reply

I will check it out. In the meantime, there is one small part in the English version where it's Frobe's voice (at least according to the Wikipedia article) see the comment section (2nd comment) where someone links to time 5:41

I have too see what version I have downloaded of Goldfinger. I am sure it is the English version but kinda wanna find the German one and rewatch it

reply

I just recently learned that George Lazenby's voice was dubbed by George Baker in OHMSS when Bond is pretending to be Baker's character (Sir Hilary Bray)

reply

Interesting, I have to watch that one again. I feel like I seen scenes of it while playing my James Bond movies all in a row but that whole era of Bond I never seen properly. I seen all of Pierce Bronson's movies as a kid, all of the Daniel Craig ones except the newest one, but of course my favorite is Sean Connery. I watched all of his films in highschool for the first time while getting into classic movies of the past and was amazed by them. Always put on a bond movie in the background while hanging out every couple of months and it is almost always a Sean Connery one. but the others do play as I fall asleep and wakeup to George Lazenby Bond. Never have I watched it from beginning tho. I will have to properly watch his movies soon

Second time in a month. I think it surpassed $2,000 earlier in March.

I gotta give William Devane a call.

Those commercials are hilarious.

Did you see Norm Macdonald's take (link)?

reply

I'd rather have food, property and weapons when push comes to shove.

I can't imagine anyone having any use of gold when the shit hits the fan.

Yep it’s just another rock in the end.

Lead will be more valuable than gold. Especially by the ounce.
