Whats your Favourite Comedy/ Horror movie

Mine is Idle hands equal wirh Dead Alive

Hot Fuzz

Sorry bro, it has to be a cross between horror and comedy. So I think you meant Shaun of the dead.

reply

i mean it i can see both arguments

genres arent binary and it is part buddy cop action part slasher, which are slashers not horrror? it also clearly has horror elements and has been described as a "british folk horror". with people relating it to the origional wicker man from the 70s which is also called a "british folk horror"

reply

You’re the 2nd person to mention it so I might be in the wrong here.

reply

nahhh id say its perspective l see how it could be argued both ways. like i said genres arent "binary" or multually exclusive. even the most action backed action film may at times borrow stuff from another genre for one scene or another but that wouldnt make the action film another genre.

i see how it could share more in common with a thriller mystery than a horror but heres an article on "folk horror". ive taken some film classes and never heard of it before

Nice 👍

Army of Darkness and Hot Fuzz.

reply

You’re the second one to mention Hot Fuzz. But it’s not horror!?!

reply

It starts off as an action-comedy but turns into horror half-way through.

EDIT: Yeah maybe it's more of a thriller than a horror.... hmmmm

Bride of Chucky

I like it too! Believe it or not…

The Greasy Strangler (2016) is up there. My friend and I throw out quotes from it.

The Monster Squad (1987) is up there, too.

100% Return of the Living Dead (1985)

Will try to keep it brief and avoid already mentioned popular titles, or ones by me in another post itt:

An American Werewolf in London (1981)
100 Bloody Acres (2012)
Cemetery Man (1994)
Dead Set (2008)
Housebound (2014)
Grabbers (2012)
Deathgasm (2016)
The Wolf of Snow Hollow (2020)
Bloodsucking Bastards (2015) - Truly funny and holds up to repeat viewings well.
Murder Party (2007)

Werewolf in London is classic!

We watched Housebound the other night with the MovieChat MovieClub and barely anyone but me enjoyed it.

We are watching Deathgasm tomorrow with the MC MC. You should drop by!!

Murder Party: Quite good. 7/10

Cool! How does it work? Do we just comment in a common thread here? I don't see any other options. I'd be curious to see people's thoughts on Housebound. If it's easy for you, would you post that week's thread? If not, I'm sure it couldn't be too grueling a task for me to find.

I may be able to make Deathgasm on time, but may be as late as 7PM PST. Luckily I have it, so won't need to break for commercials. Not sure how y'all are watching it.

My plans for tomorrow night are up in the air, so forgive me if I flake.

Here’s the thread where we watched Housebound (along with 3 other films). Good luck making your way through 500 posts of pure nonsense! 😆
