I'm sitting in church and saw this teenage couple walk in and the dude was carry what looked like a purse. It looked like a book bag but still a purse and his girl wasn't carrying anything. Does that make any sense?

He might have been carrying his tablet in there. Many people now carry tablets or kindles with Bibles downloaded into them for church these days (way less heavy than the real deal). Heck, even the musicians use tablets for their sheet music! I even once saw the pastor get out a tablet for his sermon back when my family was still singing in the choir.
