Adds making this unusable.

Pop up adds keep appearing over text every 5 seconds on iPad safari making this unusable.
Anyone else?

You can either install an adblocker or -- if it's specifically pop-ups that are bothering you -- in Safari there's an option in the settings to block them.

Done all that and still get it. I’m not in the US so maybe it’s country related. 😞
Installed Chrome.

You might need to use a customized ad-blocker and label specific ads you want blocked.

Why is it that I never get the problems everyone her has, but no one gets the problems I get with this site?

Kowalski is a problem for all of us.

Well, that could be evidence for us being in Hell.

Hell isn't this bad.

I agree. I don't know how anyone can put up with "him". I'm guessing "he" has their nudes.

I've never seen an ad on this site, and I've been here since this site originated as an unofficial continuation of the IMDb forums in 2017.

Jumping jacked up Jehoshaphat.

I use a Windows PC, Firefox, and Adblock Plus, the same as I've used for at least a decade. It doesn't block everything on all sites, but I've never had any problems with this site:

This is common on iOS for some reason; several people have posted about it.

If you download the duckduckgo browser from the App Store, and use that to access movie chat, it should fix the ad problem.

reply

What ads? I'm running this on android / Firefox and don't see a single ad

reply

Yeah I don’t get adds on my pc or android phone either but it’s every on my IPAD using Safari which I use when going to sleep. I can use another browser buts it’s just crazy how bad it is on safari.

reply

I have 3 iPads and have never experienced “ads” blocking texts. I use Safari as my browser and DuckDuckGo, Brave, or Bing for my search engines. The best ad blocker I’ve used is Total Adblock for Safari.

DuckDuckGo & Brave do the least tracking. Remove Chrome. I attempt to stay away from all things Google. Trouble is YouTube is owned by Google so I’m stuck.

Ads here started a few years after Imdb boards closed. I had to install an ad blocker on Firefox because it kept crashing! (4GB ram, 4GB paging). Switched to Edge later.

Use a browser with ad blocking on Anroid, like Edge. Chrome is useless!

reply

Ads also eat your bandwidth when they cycle. Before I disabled them, they also UPLOAD. No idea what.

Been having the same problem for months now on iPhone.
