Trying to find out the name of a movie

I'm looking for a movie I once watched.
From what I recall, the eldest daughter, a well-looking blonde, marries a rich guy to save her sisters from poverty. The plot follows a daughter, whose name I do not recall, who wants to become an artist. Her master then comes to their house and paints the eldest daughter. The youngest daughter, Ruth, then burns the master's painting. The movie was released on DVD.
I also recall although I'm not certain, that after she burns the painting, she becomes mad. The plot should somewhat resemble Cinderella. It is set in 18th-century Italy. Also, the artist masters have a long-haired apprentice who falls in love with one of them.

I know it is random stuff, but I feel like I'm mad; I know this movie exists; I just can not find it.

Any idea when you watched this? Was it an American film? Do you know how old it is?

I have no idea what production it was. I remember seeing it on DVD as a child, presumably from 2000 to 2008; however, the movie itself may be even older.
