For the night owls:

reply

Ed's Mother is a badass.

reply

Eat grass bitch!

reply

I really liked Ed and His Dead Mother. 8/10 from me.

reply

Buscemi always deserves at least an 8/10, the dude just makes every movie better.

reply

If the horror aspect was a bit more graphic and gruesome I might have given it a higher rating but for this perfectly fine film I give a 7.

reply

BINGO...THAT IS HOW I FELT ABOUT THE MOVIE.

reply

I think Dead Alive hit it better

reply

Watching Saved. Jena Malone is really cute in this.

reply

Oh yeah! They are getting it on!

reply

I like Mandy Moore, but her performance in this is too over the top.

reply

THAT'S A FAIR COMPLAINT..SHE IS RATHER OVER THE TOP.

reply

Have you seen The Wise Kids (2011)?

reply

NOPE...I HAVE NOT EVEN HEARD OF THAT ONE.

reply

It deals with some of the same themes as Saved, teens, religion, sexuality, etc, but does it in a way that I felt was more nuanced and effective. Here is my original review of The Wise Kids:

Directed by Stephen Cone, the film stars Tyler Ross, Molly Kunz, Allison Torem, and Stephen Cone. The film tells the story of three teenaged friends at a small conservative Baptist church in the South who are wrestling with questions of doubt and sexuality. This is one of the most authentic, honest, sincere, and empathetic films I have ever seen. The director does an amazing job at telling the characters' stories without judgment, mockery or condemnation. There are no villains here, just people trying to figure out who they are and where their lives are headed. The film is never preachy and doesn't push any agenda or lecture the audience. It feels real and we are allowed to connect with and care about all the characters. The performances are fantastic. All three lead teens are very believable and give natural performances. The director, Stephen Cone, also has a significant role in the film and is excellent. The screenplay is really well written and true to life. The Wise Kids is a beautiful, heartfelt film, that is smart, sweet, and satisfying. We need more films like this. Very highly recommended. My rating is a high 9/10.

reply

YEAH...THAT SOUNDS PRETTY GOOD...I'LL ADD IT TO MY WATCHLIST.

reply

Why does everyone call her Hilary Faye? That's too long of a name. I have a hard time believing people wouldn't shorten her name or give her a nickname.

reply

Someone finally called her Hil!

reply

Some people demand the full name treatment. That's how I viewed it.

reply

I suppose, but when the person isn't around, would you still call them by their full name?

reply

Yep. You get into the habit.

reply

It still seemed weird to me.

reply

It's a dumb name IMHO. We had campers with names like that and we got into the habit of using the full name.

Plus, Hillary could be common at that time and Faye just defines her.

reply

I give Saved a 6/10.
