Why is Jack Nicholson not held in the same esteem as Al Pacino and Robert De Niro?

He has more Oscars than the both of them but it seems like he’s not considered that great of an actor compared to them. Why?

This is one of the most bs things I've ever read lol.

He is in my book. Jack > Al > Lil Bobby

He is, what are you talking about

I'm not sure 'esteem' is the right word to use. De Niro and Pacino may be more present in people's thoughts than Nicholson, but that could simply be the fact that they are still active - whereas Jack's last role was in 2010, and he also doesn't draw much attention to himself outside the movies. But as far as acting chops go, I'm sure he is held in just as high esteem as Pacino or De Niro.

He's not an Itai

Nicholson is certainly just as good. Plus I think you are underestimating the esteem he's held in. The fact that he has more Oscar wins than the other two proves it.

I believe he is held in the same category of actor as the two of them. He has elected to retire from public life unlike Pacino & Deniro so you hear more about the two of them now.

this seems like the opposite of the truth to me.

pacino & deniro have spent a lot of the last two decades making a lot of really middling & sometimes flat-out poor stuff.

i think they really damaged their reps.

nicholson's resume isn't perfect at all, but he never did direct to video stuff with john travolta like deniro has.
