Why is Jack Nicholson not held in the same esteem as Al Pacino and Robert De Niro?

He has more Oscars than the both of them but it seems like he’s not considered that great of an actor compared to them. Why?

I think Nicholson is one of the greatest actors ever. IMO Pacino is a close second to Nicholson and De Niro is not even close.

I think Jack Nicholson mostly plays varying versions of his own personality. I think Al Pacino is a terrific actor, which you can appreciate because his characters (by and large) are so different from his real personality. Honestly, his characterizations of Michael Corleone and Tony Montana are so intense. Oddly, it seems like the role for which he won the Oscar (Scent of a Women) is the most like his own personality.

WTF are you talking about? Nicholson has 3 Oscars, De Niro has 2, Pacino has 1.

Did you even read between the lines of the initial question? I already pointed out that Nicholson has three Oscars.

Then this thread is completely pointless

HE IS TO ME...I LIKE HIM MORE THAN BOTH THOSE GUYS.

Jack Nicholson has always been an iconic and highly regarded actor. I don't think many are held in higher esteem, certainly not in my household.
