I suspect her maintaining her body is mostly down to never having kids. I've noticed that women that never have kids tend to keep their form much longer than women that have had kids even when the women that have had kids avoid the weight gain during pregnancy. Having kids seems to do a lot of damage to the body that tends to show up later in life.

According to the medical community, women who have borne children live longer by a measurable amount. Don't know why that is.
I think you are referring to the study at Harvard Medical school that found men lived 2 years longer and women 1.5 years longer if they had kids versus if they didn't... Of course that study was based on people in Sweden born in the early 1900's so just how much it relates to people living today is up for debate. I chalk it up to one of those old studies that was factually accurate but is based on a time in history that has little relevance to today, like the one infamous study that showed a dramatic drop in the ability for women to have kids after the age of 30... that study was based on French peasants in the 1800's and was later debunked in modern studies where women aren't malnourished as they were in the 1800's... but many people still quote the results of the old study.
In the study you referred to it was suggested that families with kids were more likely to have those kids help the parents when they got older. But the real thing that makes the study results suspect is that men with kids live longer, a guy's body doesn't suffer anything from having kids so why would he live longer? Most likely it wasn't because of any physical change to his body but rather from what the kids do for him later in life.
But whether a woman with kids lives longer or not, the woman that doesn't ever have them still tends to look better when they get older.
