I'm glad he lived to see the Marvel Film Era

Comic books are cool, but live action movies with 200 million dollar budgets are something else. It would have been pretty amazing for him.

I concur. To see his visions jump from the pages to the screen in such fashion. How cool that was for him!

reply

Yeah, he got to see almost all of his heroes onscreen in one form or another.

reply

Think of it this way. he got to shake hands with people who previously only existed in his imagination.

Ditto! Even now (close to 1 month since his passing), I'm still in awe of what he did in his lifetime. He was a visionary who grasped that more complex stories could be told with comics and he was a picture of kind humility. To be able to live to see the two-dimensional worlds he excelled in morph into the three-dimensional realm of television and movies, that must have been a thrill. A well deserved one too.

He was in the handful of famous people I would have enjoyed meeting. Rest in peace Stan and thanks for sharing your dreams with us!

I won't bother with his comics then, if the Marvel movies are a good representation of his work.
