Why did Democrats vote by mail while Republicans voted in person?

I'm not exactly saying that both groups did these things exclusively, some Ds would've voted on the day for example, I'm sure, but Liz Cheney mentioned this in her summing up of the Jan. 6th Committee findings this morning.

But if both sides mostly voted by the methods I describe, why was that? I can only imagine after what Cheney said, Democrats will be less inclined to use mail-in voting when they could be there in person like the Republicans. In either case, it was ripe ground for Trump to claim fraud, as mail-in votes take time to be counted and could be days later, as we heard all this back in the election itself.

There's nothing wrong with mail-in voting. CO, UT, WA, NV are states that have allowed it for all elections for years (Oregon since 1998). Why change something just because Republicans falsely claim it's unsafe?

trump encouraged his people to vote in person. republicans were the largest group of covid conspiracy theorists and non believers.

Biden encouraged dems to vote by mail. Dems were the biggest believers of science and covid.

In Person Voting in the USA seems to involve travelling huge distances and waiting in line all day getting hassled by lobbyists.
Why the hell would you not vote by mail?

lobbyists? its against the law to lobby/protest around voting sites.

there is no way to know if your vote was recorded if you vote by mail. in person voting should be the law.

I vote by mail and have been doing so for years. I receive an email telling me that my ballot has been received, verified and counted after I mail it in. That's how I know my vote has been recorded. Voting by mail is the future so give it a try. You will like the convenience.

is it an automated email? you are basically trusting someone else to vote for you. I would like to vote by mail, but I dont trust the process yet as there is no accountability for mail-in votes. lets say I dislike candidate B and you voted for B. I could mark Candidate A which would invalidate your vote as you can only vote for one person.

for now, there is no way to validate tens of millions of mail in votes that all come in at election time. I have heard it would take months to match every ballot to a voter.

for the 2024 election, there needs to be a 3rd party present that is neither democrat or republican to make sure everything is fair.

Well, Republicans voted in person because they are alive, intelligent and responsible. Democrats voted by "mail" because the Democrats found "81 million" corpses....I mean voters to elect Brandon. I always knew the cemeteries should be locked on Election Day!

Trump encouraged his followers to vote in person ….because he was aware that those would be the first votes counted (and that the mail-in votes would be counted afterwards).

He was aware that he’d have an early lead, and that he would be able to act surprised when his lead diminished when the mail-in votes were counted. This is when he was declaring victory - before all the votes were counted. Shameless shit. I mean, he had already indoctrinated his followers previously that “the only way that he loses, it’s because it was rigged”.

While Trump fans were screaming “stop the count” in Michigan, Trump fans were simultaneously screaming “count the votes” in Arizona. Can’t have it both ways.

Because it's easier to cheat, voting by Mail. That's why democrats started the covid bullshit hoax. To scare weak minded people to stay home, forcing mail in ballots. This was the only way they could get 45 out of office. The American sheep went right along with it. Baaaa
