Blizzard of the Century - 2022, Top Scientists say the Earth is getting warmer.

https://abcnews.go.com/US/20-dead-cold-weather-christmas-weekend/story?id=95809460

At least 51 people have died nationwide from the wintry weather wreaking havoc across the U.S. over Christmas weekend.

The most deaths are in New York state, where 29 people have died in the wake of a massive lake effect snowstorm, according to New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and local officials.

Hochul called the storm "the blizzard of the century" in western New York during a news conference Monday and said the White House has promised to quickly approve an emergency disaster declaration. President Joe Biden said he spoke to Hochul on Monday afternoon.

reply

Global warming is awful! It has brought us all these ice storms!!!!

reply

I know right, lol. I don't remember Al Gore saying there would be more ice and snow storms because of global warming.

reply

That's exactly why "they" renamed it from Global Warming to Climate Change ..

reply

Do you also believe in a flat earth?

reply

Does science prove a flat Earth? No, science proved that the Earth was a globe long before we had photos of the Earth. Science has also proven that climate change is happening. We used to be a bit iffy on whether or not human's had caused the climate to change. That is no longer a mystery . . .because of science.

Now you can look up online and educate yourself about why we are having more and more turbulent weather BECAUSE of the affect that warming the planet causes. Easy. Unless you don't believe science of course.

reply

Jinx indeed. Reply to the correct posters please.

reply

You tell others to educate self yet you are not in the subject.

"We used to be a bit iffy on whether or not human's had caused the climate to change. That is no longer a mystery . . .because of science. "

Nice bit of fiction had you done your research you would see climate change is natural and yes humans do contribute but not to the scale that people claim the science as is the case with many sciences now are epidemiology not real facts also drive by $$$.

reply

Your research? The majority of scientists agree that man is influencing the climate with their pollution. $$$ is what's holding back measures to counter this influence!
The terrible thing is that it's not a big conspiracy but merely indifference and short term greed that drives this inaction.
Look up the loss of pollinators (bees and other animals) over the past 30 years. It is affecting all of us and needs some shoulders to support.
Please help.

reply

There is no evidence to the cause of the bee population decline but there is a movement to interest more bee keepers, and I totally support that.

reply

Here in the EU we our "FDA" approves food after it's proven to be safe. In the US the FDA only bans food after it's proven to be bad. Different approach. I'm for the EU approach. The bee decline may not have been fully linked to mankind's actions but we better treat it as such now there are too few left.

reply

Bullshit. Real scientists that look at real uncorrupted data dont believe in the climate hoax. But they are banned from every platform the dare to use because liberal cunts dont want facts just the made up bullshit.

reply

The majority of scientists agree...

Yeah, because the majority of scientists are climatologists...
Can somebody please stop these nonsense rehashing idiots?

reply

MillerJones I couldn't have said it better myself. Well played.

reply

I would like to see YOUR research that humans aren't greatly contributing to climate change.

reply

I would suggest you read the works by Connolly Scientific Research Group.

reply

Do you have a research article that is peer reviewed that I can read?

reply

I see you are another one of those appeal to authority types as if because something which has been peer reviewed means it has any merit it doesn't.

I was involved in medical research for over 3 decades by the way so I know how the system works especially because I was a peer reviewer myself.

All of that groups research is out for people to see and if they wish prove them wrong yet from science point of view no one has they nit pick at things only.

reply

I am asking you for verified evidence. Why is it that every time I ask for evidence so that I can understand if your viewpoint has any merit, all I get are facebook memes, YouTube videos and Tweets?

reply

You are not looking hard.

Their own website has links to publications.

If you read research you should know the places to go for published papers.

I see you have never posted a link to any published papers which claim 100% fact humans are the cause of climate change (maybe due to isn't one and if you tried posting something up claiming it was myself plus others who understand how to read them will rip it apart)

reply

https://www.ucsusa.org/resources/are-humans-major-cause-global-warming

reply

You are joking right?

reply

Oh God, here we go. 🙄

You have anything other than your own word to refute this with, go ahead.

reply

Your link provides 0 studies.

Lots of claims and charts/graphs they have made up.

This is why you should read what I suggested they rip apart the methods these people use which are epidemiology models for selective time periods.

Lets use your link and what that page is showing which is an opinion piece they have no evidence of anything causing what is claimed this is the same with when you hear in medicine this causes cancer yet they have no evidence of cause (no one knows the cause of any type of cancer) they are creating association without any evidence or ever conducting any science to back it up.

https://science2017.globalchange.gov/chapter/3/

Your link uses this as a source for it's "facts"

If it's facts why are they using terms like "likely" that is not how science works you prove it or you do not.

Read through it it goes on about the models yet provides 0 evidence humans are the cause

I can do this an increase of flooding has happened in my local town it is due to climate change (evidence? while the increase could have happened due to building housing estates on flood plains but no must be climate change)

reply

Your link provides 0 studies - What?! Every graph has a reference to a different study.

Lots of claims and charts/graphs they have made up. - they didn't make up those charts and graphs, there is a Copyright underneath each one. . .

Nothing on that page is an 'opinion piece' Do you know what an opinion piece is?

If it's facts why are they using terms like "likely" that is not how science works you prove it or you do not. You don't know how science works at ALL if that's what you think. Science doesn't work in facts, it works in theories. Gravity is still a theory!

I really wanted to hear your side of things but I'm disappointed.

reply

Are you really this dumb itI looks to be the case.

They have created own data claiming it is taken from studies they conducted yet do not link to them the same with graphs/charts it's from them and another source which is associated with them the data used is meaningless it looks good to uneducated like yourself.

I can make up a graph now and say it came from a study which is questionnaire based selecting 10 scientists in the field to answer 50 questions each. This is what these type of people define as science in which it's not and the same case with use made up computer models.

Considering I was as mentioned before involved in research science for over three decades I know full well how the system works but I suppose an uneducated person like yourself has all the answers skim through some papers and knows it all yep cant even understand what they are reading.

Years down the road when you get an education maybe you will understand.

My side of things I pointed you to the people to read all the research if you cant be bothered that is your problem.

This has nothing to do with gravity and correct its a theory which is backed up by evidence it is not claimed to be the truth you are claiming climate change is human caused not a theory that is valid or evidence backs this up

Read the people I mention they rip apart the bogus models etc used making even if it was a theory as you like to use bogus.

reply

Do I actually have to send you to where they got their data even though it says so right underneath their copyright? Jesus Christ . . .

Underneath the first graph:
https://scrippsco2.ucsd.edu/
The Scripps CO2 program was initiated in 1956 by Charles David Keeling

This is under the second graph:
https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/access/paleo-search/study/17975
Antarctic Ice Cores Revised 800KYr CO2 Data

Do you get it now? HINT: it's right where it says data below the graph.

reply

No point continuing with you too dumb to understand anything.

None of any of this shows humans are the "cause" which is what you are claiming.

climate change is natural this is a fact do humans contribute towards it yes but "cause" no.

reply

I had to explain to you where the data came from that showed evidence that it is caused by Humans. Did you go to the ice core library, that's an important one and it's located under the last graph.

I understand that you are having a knee jerk reaction to your own insecurity but you can be educated about the topic, that's all you should want and that's all I want FOR you.

reply

so how did C02 levels double in the last 100 years?

and how is climate immune from the law of cause and effect?

https://youtu.be/uRkUMlj3Os8

reply

That is absolute bullshit. We are not having more turbulent weather than we have ever had. I know this because I believe in reality, and science, and I know the facts.

reply

winter is dumb, I want perfect weather all the time...

reply

Tell me you don't know the difference between climate and weather without telling me you don't know the difference between climate and weather!

reply

Please explain to me and everyone the difference and please include examples and what the plan is to stop billions of years of climate change.

Trump is an utter moron and an embarrassment to our country. He will never be president again.

There's a clear picture. The planet warming and us getting ice storms is easily explained when you understand how weather works. A warmer planet is evaporating more water into the atmosphere. That added moisture means more precipitation in the form of heavy snowfall or downpours.

reply

According to that site, it says 30 years of more is climate change which is just a blip in time in the 4 billion year history of the Earth.

Scientists have recorded five significant ice ages throughout the Earth’s history: the Huronian (2.4-2.1 billion years ago), Cryogenian (850-635 million years ago), Andean-Saharan (460-430 mya), Karoo (360-260 mya) and Quaternary (2.6 mya-present). Approximately a dozen major glaciations have occurred over the past 1 million years, the largest of which peaked 650,000 years ago and lasted for 50,000 years. The most recent glaciation period, often known simply as the “Ice Age,” reached peak conditions some 18,000 years ago before giving way to the interglacial Holocene epoch 11,700 years ago.
https://www.history.com/topics/pre-history/ice-age

Scientists have concluded that the Earth started warming about 12,000 years ago. Was this a natural phenomenon or did humans cause it? With 8 billion people, of course we are going to be affected by weather events. How many people were killed or injured in America a thousand years ago? I would say it would be almost none. People build their homes in the forests and then complain when it gets burned down by forest fires. Thats not climate change or weather, its human hubris. We damn up rivers and water our grass and then complain there is no water, again thats human hubris. If humans are the cause of climate change then the only 2 options are population control or abandoning all modern conveniences and go back to a preindustrial civilization.

People will never give up their modern convivences and cell phones but will continue to complain about climate change. The internet and 5G is a monster and needs an enormous amount of electricity to run.

Meanwhile, trillions will be spent on so called climate change solutions but in the end it will have no effect.

reply

Thanks for putting so much effort into this so that i could see exactly where you are coming from. I have to say that about 20 years ago I agreed with what you are saying and that was my stance. However with access to new information, I changed my mind.

The topic really interested me and I wanted to know things like, how can we possibly know what the weather was like even 500 years ago, not to mention what the weather was like over thousands of years? My original opinion was formed after I saw a graph of the global warming and cooling only I didn't know where the knowledge for that graph was coming from.

So that's when I dug into the ice core research which is absolutely fascinating! I had so many questions about how the ice cores were read and how that information could be interpreted. I thought originally that we were getting just a scientific 'estimated guess' on these ice cores, but at this point it is so much more than I could have imagined. We have a literal LIBRARY of these cores now and having so MANY has really changed the science and given us a clearer picture on what's going on. If you are interested, you could look at photos of the ice core library, it is vast and just a really cool thing to see regardless of what you think about the scientist who do that research.

You absolutely are on point when you say that people build their homes in places that are prone to disaster and then are shocked when they get smooshed by mother nature, I can't believe that people are stupid enough to keep living in New Orleans and crying when it floods.

You are also right about people not giving up on their modern energy sucking devices.

I just don't understand why you would post about the blizzards being proof that climate change or global warming isn't happening. That's a fundamental misunderstanding of how weather works. When the planet heats up and the icecaps start melting a lot of evaporation happens, releasing into the air and forming clouds >

reply

Please explain how billions year long climate change process can affect the habitat of a planet's species so drastically in a space of decades?

reply

[deleted]

It's funny how whenever somebody mentions a severe winter storm as evidence against global warming, some idiot will always reply "You don't know the difference between climate and weather!". But when there's a severe summer heat wave, the same idiot will say "See! That proves global warming!". Weather is the short-term manifestation of climate. The two are inseparable. Those who try to convince us that they are separate phenomena are either uneducated or liars.

reply

A 1000 year ice cyclone super nova! The worst we’ve seen since 1993.

reply

Most of the comments here are examples of what the climate hysterics have cleverly done--when it became clear that warming was either nonexistent or insignificant, they changed the name of their crisis from "global warming" to "climate change". That way, their asses are covered no matter what happens. There have been severe, extensive cold storms as big and bigger than the one taking place now in every century, going back many thousands of years. This storm is nothing new, and nothing unnatural.

reply

The name was changed because most people aren't educated on what causes weather and so they don't understand how a warming planet CAUSES snowstorms.

People still believe that God controls the weather.

Of course there have been severe storms in the past, but what we are experiencing is human caused changes and these little changes have MASSIVE affects. Do you know how we know that this is happening and that it is caused by humans?

reply

You know Europe is the middle of a heat wave right now, right?

reply

We. Are. Doomed...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDP9hye2JBY

Not really. we'll find a way to move to the spots that are less impacted. There is plenty of land.

reply

[deleted]

That's kind of my point. Just because it's cold in the US at a particular time (in the winter), doesn't mean the rest of the world (in winter) is cold at that moment. Get it?

reply

which climatologist is saying they should and would?

what they are saying is that man is having a massive impact on the climate, due to fossily fuels CO2 has almost doubled in the atmosphere in the last 150 years. and the global temperature changing one degree in the same time period. a temperature change that normally happens over 30k years. not 150 years?

No to mention when this change happened 70k years ago there wasn't as many humans, relying on infrastructure and massive crop stability

you cannot see an issue with this?

reply

There is no such thing as "global temperature". There are thousands of regional temperatures. At any rate, changes in temperature of one degree or more take place far more frequently than every 30K years. In just the past 20K years, there have been at least eight greater fluctuations than the one currently taking place. The "Hockey Stick" showing climatic uniformity until the late 20th century is a lie.

reply

There is no such thing as "global temperature".

did you really just say something this stupid?

oh wait form the rest of your comment you actually are. We have an expert paleo climatologist here . can you send me links to your papers and studies? i need to see why the consensus of climatologists are all wrong but liscarkat on moviechat is right because "trust me bro"

reply

This just in: The earth is doing what it's always done.

You're welcome.

reply

And extremists are doing what they've always done.

When I was in school, we were all worried in the 70's about the next ice age. Didn't happen. Oh then there was a big concern about global famine. Didn't become the epidemic that was feared. (And if people would move away from barren areas that can't produce food, problem mostly solved). Then the big fear was we'd run out of oil. But guess what? Fracking and Nuclear could solve that problem, but the environmentalists are shutting both of them down, because they love solar and wind. (But ironically, the environmentalists now hate wind because those huge blades digest millions of poor birds!)

Now the big "problem" is Global Warming, er ah, renamed Climate Change after the temps started leveling out... whoops!

I'm all for clean air, and renewable energy if it makes fiscal sense, integrated slowly at a reasonable pace without mandates. Solar is so damn inefficient; it looks and sounds cool but really isn't cost-effective yet. What I hate is the "Cry Wolf, the sky is falling" extremism which will ultimately shut down our already fragile economy. Let's watch California force everyone into EVs and then on the 1st 100-degree day in SoCal, the entire state sees the biggest blackout in history. I'll wait and laugh from the East Coast.

My sister-in-law, a die-hard leftist, bought an electric car to Save The Planet and signal how virtuous she is. Unfortunately for her, in southern California electricity is so expensive she finds herself having to choose between charging the car so she can go to work, or running the air conditioning in her house (and it's hot here). Out of necessity, the car wins. I laugh a little every time I think about it.

reply

it would have taken you a very short period of time to figure out weather vs climate.

reply

How does a person know when to blame weather or climate change?

reply

you dont know the difference, something kids learn in grade 7 science classrooms. so how would you know and why should i listen to you?

reply

Please explain the difference for everyone.

reply

weather is the specific day to day events like temperature and a rain storm. climate is the average weather conditions of an area over time.

weather -today it rained
climate - in the summer our cities climate is moderately hot with lots of precipitation.

does a global increase in temperature mean snow stops? maybe go get an education before making a child like comment and showing everyone here your ignorance darling.

reply

The climate changed 4 times last year. And the year before that.

reply

no it didnt. did you confuse seasons with climate? just when you think deniers cant get anymore ignorant

reply

You seem lots of fun. Did you just not understand humour? Just when you thought climate loonies couldn't get any more boring.

reply

if i say evolution is true am i an "evolution loonie"?

you are just trying to play off what was an attempted gotcha statement as a joke after i showed your ignorance.

reply

You can say it's true but can you prove evolution is true? If so you will be doing far better than Darwin as not even he managed that, you arrogant fucking prick! Get on my ignore list with the other knobjockeys.

reply

yes there are multiple disciplines of science that all present strong evidence and all point to the theory of evolution. was that you trying to now be funny so you can say "see i was joking before"

if so how humiliating you are attempting that to save face.

reply

If weather is short term and climate is long term. Then why do dems blame climate change when its really hot for one week in summer?

reply

Weather is the short-term manifestation of climate. The two are inseparable parts of one phenomenon. By warmist logic, if a winter storm is "just weather," and doesn't mean anything as far as global warming is concerned, then a summer heat wave must be equally insignificant. But when people point to a winter storm, warmists say "you don't know the difference between weather and climate," and when there's a heat wave, they say "it's global warming!". Is the inconsistency stupidity, or lying?

reply

what are you talking about? you just invented that nonsense in your head. which climatologist is saying a change in the winter climate isnt climate change? only changes in the summer one? give me one. please explain this and how the law of causality (cause and effect) doesnt exist

-we've released almost 3 trillion tonnes of carbon dioxide since 1850
-this has almost double the CO2 PPM in our atmosphere
-CO2 is a known greenhouse gas
-in this same period global temperatures have risen 1 degree

go on explain how this is all wrong and none of this is linked.

reply

I'm sure I will miss batfags pearls of wisdoms. Go suck a fat one.
