Sincere Question: Could Anyone Point Me To a Good Amber Heard Performance?

I just foolishly ventured over to that cesspool that is Twitter where I saw a post make the 'observation' that "Johnny Depp is not a good actor, and only got roles because of his looks" (LOL! Yeah because Depp's looks were on full-display in Edward Scissorhands, his most acclaimed role, and POTC, right?)

Anyway, maybe I'm wrong, but I'll assume that the person attacking Depp here is an Amber Heard supporter. That being the case, I'll assume they believe that, contrary to Depp, Heard is an accomplished actor who didn't get parts because of her looks.

Forgive my 'misogyny' (*sigh* 🙄🤦‍♂️) but I have yet to see these exemplary performances of Heard that her ardent supporters appear to be alluding to (i.e. the same ones who are arguing, for real, on Twitter that the Depp case destroyed her stardom...another honest question: when was she *ever* a 'star'?) Can anyone point me to one of her amazing acting performances?

reply

"My dog stepped on a bee".

reply

Seeing her say that actually made me laugh out loud! And they kept playing it! 😂

reply

That was a great performance, indeed.

reply

I loathe Amber Heard (when I think of her at all), but I guess I could say she was okay in John Carpenter's The Ward.

reply

Thought she was solid as Mera in Zack Snyders Justice League and Aquaman

reply

🤢

reply

She was okay. Nothing spectacular, but decent. Prior to discovering what type of person she was, I actually appreciated that they cast a classically pretty woman in the role.

reply

Yes she was. Mamoa agrees with you. He fought to keep her in the next film when the producers wanted to replace her.

reply

Agreed, she was good in it and I'm glad that they didn't remove her from the second movie (even though rumour has it that the movie is more poop than you can fit on a pillow).

reply

this is literally the worst place to ask for that , everyone hates her on moviechat.com

reply

Including you?

Either you're judging everyone, in which case *can you* cite a good Amber Heard performance? Or you're including yourself in that assessment.

reply

i don't hate her

reply

I thought she was good in Aquaman.

Thanks, that was probably the only time I've laughed at anything on TBBT

reply

Thanks. I try, but it's so hard be an internet comedian these days!

reply

I've only ever seen her as Nadine in the 2020 version of The Stand...Although horribly miscast(like many of the characters in that version) she gives a decent enough performance, I suppose!

reply

Her performance in "The Informers" was eerily similar to how her career has panned out, as of late, 14 years later.

reply

So you think she will die of AIDS on a Spanish beach?

reply

What Spanish beach?

reply

You've seen The Informers right?

reply

Yes, and where in Spain does it take place?

reply

Do you really need this explained?

reply

I liked her in "Drive Angry" (2011), with Nic Cage; however, if I remember, I didn't like the third act of the film.

She easily could have been a great Supergirl [she has the look at the very least, with possible acting ability, if she really tried]. But, with such baggage and sh*t storms she creates; I'm sure, the production of such a film would have failed before it hit the big screen.

reply

Supergirl is supposed to be a warm, likeable character. I think Amber would be better suited to a femme fatale type of comic-book character, although, to be fair, she isn't terrible as Mera, and bestows her character with a certain aristocratic haughtiness, befitting of a princess.

reply

As of now, I think she's the type that would try and produce the trials for a made-for-TV movie(s) on Lifetime where she plays herself... For some reason, I think it could work.

... and, I do agree, she can/could be a good actress.
