and...

THE LION KING (is this allowed? Because really... Disney.)

Also, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. But mostly because I think it's hilarious.

This is probably the most diverse, craziest and downright coolest of all the lists I have seen on this thread.

I have to admit that I'm kind of surprised that no one on this thread even mentioned my favorite musical,'All That Jazz'which I still find stunning.
Oh well, here's ATJ and a few more.

All That Jazz - Great Movie, great story behind the making of this film.
Top Hat - have to have a shout out for Fred and Ginger.
The Wizard of OZ - still magical.
An American in Paris - Gershwin's music is enough for me.

I'm no authority on musicals so I won't presume to debate the finer points - came here because AAIP was on TCM, and it grabs me a little more each time I see it or a part of it. It's a magical movie (as is The Wizard of Oz, as one post mentioned...still). One further comment: loved seeing The Band Wagon get some love (from the OP at least). Not always, but I've seen TCM show it back to back with Singin' In The Rain, as sort of sister movies (not that they are, but it seems that way to me when shown like that). Not saying it's as good as SITR, but I think I like it just as much - and I definitely like SITR...Interesting to compare Astaire to Kelly in those 2 films in particular...

anyway, love The Band Wagon, that's all I wanted to say. I am also a big fan of Cover Girl
