I can't agree. I just got American in Paris from the library, because I haven't seen it in years. I have never liked it and I realize now that the script is lousy.

The top musicals of all time are:
The Wizard of Oz, Singin' in the Rain, Meet Me in St. Louis and Gigi

with
the 1936 Show Boat, Cabaret, West Side Story, Swing Time, The Sound of Music and Funny Girl as the next six.

Worst Movie Musicals in no particular order?
A Chorus Line, A Little Night Music, Man of La Mancha, Mame, At Long Last Love, Lost Horizon, If I'm Lucky among many others.

I can't decide on 4:

An American in Paris - Incredible choreography, costuming, music and dancing
Singin' in the Rain - Great storyline
The Wizard of Oz
All That Jazz
Holiday Inn - Fred and Bing had great chemistry. Great fun.
Carefree - I can't get enough of watching Fred do that dance with the golf clubs and throwing Ginger around during the Yam Man number not to mention I love Jack Carson.
On the Town
The Band Wagon - Gotta have a Cyd movie.
