Team Blue or Team Pink?

I think we all know to what I refer. I remember being very passionately a blue dress fan as a child. I realize in the pantheon of Disney princesses, Cinderella's got the blue angle, I just think I'm siding with Merryweather on this one. In truth, I preferred her in her dress as Briar Rose anyway. Disney wiki says neither blue nor pink is official yet, but what say you?

Pink, as it's closer to red, my favourite colour.

I would have preferred a dress that had both pink and blue, though.

If this is a consular ship, where is the ambassador?

reply

Team Blue definitely.

Blue is my favorite color, but I think Aurora looked way better in Pink.

Well, the final shot of her had her dress in pink.

Maybe they should have just compromised and made it purple or lavender.

I guess this makes up for the fact that it's blue most of the time.

That might have been good for the movie, if they had chosen to do that, although personally I prefer the conflict to continue indefinitely. 

But as for the character's current image and merchandise, I'd have to disagree because purple is not associated with Aurora--I'd rather choose between colors that are actually used in the movie than use a color that is not in the movie (in association with Aurora), even though it is a combination.

Besides, at this point Rapunzel has claimed purple/lavender anyway. Not only does she wear this color through nearly the entire movie (and the whole time that she is a teenager and adult), it is fittingly (and probably not accidentally) the color of the real "rapunzel" flower:

By the way, the magical flower in the movie is actually based on the stargazer lily, probably because it looks more spectacular (and Rapunzel happens to be a stargazer, too), although if you look carefully it has features of the rapunzel flower incorporated into its design. But I digress. 

Team Blue. The filmmakers seemed to agree, as she wore it for most of the time.

The color battle between the fairies is hilarious! It's my daughter's favorite part of the movie. I enjoyed it so much as a kid; now it's her turn.

Note that the battle continues even after the characters have transitioned into storybook form. 

Team Blue, definitely. I've always preferred Merryweather, and blue is my favorite color.

While my personal preference here is for blue, no other Disney princess is associated with pink, and I'm sure that Disney's marketers are just dying to use pink as much as possible because they believe that's what sells the best in the young girl market segment. So pink it is, like it or not.

In addition, Snow White wears a blue bodice, and there are a number of other princesses who are kind of crowding the blue/green end of the spectrum. So Aurora is stuck with the other end of the spectrum if for no other reason than balance/variety, and obviously it is justified by the movie.

Is it the black bodice?  I don't think we got to see a Disney princess wear black again until Frozen. I think it looks good on them.

I saw the movie in 1960, and had the SLEEPING BEAUTY "Disneykins" set. She was about 3/4 of an inch high, and was in blue. So was the 1959-60 MADAME ALEXANDER Aurora Doll. I remember her, because she was licensed by Disney, but was released BEFORE the film was released. My doll had an Aqua satin gown, with a full skirt overlaid with gold netting, and she had a tiny gold tiara. The later edition was the more sophisticated powder blue "Aurora" dress from the film. I remember that there was talk of a PINK Aurora Disneykin, but I never saw one. (G)
