Did the tunnel scare you as a child?

Was it the millipede?

reply

Surprisingly no. And I saw the film before I got into horror. Back then, I was easily scared by horror films.

The tunnel didn't disturb me at all but the old people living in the same bed for 20 years did. They don't even get up to go to the bathroom, they take turns shitting the bed and no one cares.

Had it ever concurred to you that all four shit in bed at the same time? They synchronize their bowel movements so that Charlie can clean it up all at once. In addition to his paper route, Charlie had bedpan duty for his grandparents when he gets home…. Just one cleaning a day so they have to sync their shit. On his birthday Charlie gets a break from bedpan duty and his grandparents just hold it in….. but then Charlie has to pay for it the next day.

More confused me. It just felt so out of place with the rest of the movie.

reply

It slightly perturbed me, but I loved horror as a kid so I was into that. I think I was more scared about the floating in the fizzy lifting room and possibly falling to their deaths, and the wonkavator being in the sky and them, again, possibly falling to their deaths while wrapped up in glass.

It was definitely a bit creepy but I wouldn’t say I was scared by it. For whatever reason we never really questioned why the scene was in the movie . I’m still not sure why it was in it but it’s a jolt and interesting nonetheless

reply

Just watched it, it still scares me as an adult.
