I DEFINITELY HAVE A TYPE...COOL HAND LUKE,PAPILLON,AND THE GREAT ESCAPE ARE ALL ON MY TOP FIVE FILMS OF ALL TIME LIST....MCQUEEN AND NEWMAN BEING MY TWO FAVORITE ACTORS AND COOL HAND LUKE AND PAPILLON BEING MY TOP FLICK FROM EACH.

I suppose only "The Longest Yard" and "There Was a Crooked Man" could be categorized as prison films, but all the others have significant prison sequences.
And there’s nothing that can compare to the French movie A Prophet 2009. The Hole or Le Trou 1960. One of the best as well.
Every movie mentioned is a good one. Don Cheadle in Out of Sight with Clooney and JLo was fantastic but there’s only about 20 minutes of the prison in Lompoc. But they are great scenes. And can we ever forget Oz on HBO.
A Prophet was great, one of my favourite movies.
I'd recommend checking out Cell 211. It's a great Spanish prison movie.
