Do you include Part III in the saga?

Or do you prefer to think that the story ends with Part II?

No. I've seen GF3 twice, & that's enough.

I take solace that Coppola fought & lost the fight to title it The Death of Michael Corleone rather than GF3, because even vision as director knew it was uncoupled.

To be honest, I never watched Part 3 because of it's reputation.

Too bad you let others dictate your actions.

But you let his lack of action dictate your action of posting.

the paradox is utterly INSANE!

lol

I’m with you. Huge fan of part I & II, & have watched them countless times...
I’ve never seen part III.

I don't mean to be cutting in here but I will anyhow Scape;)
Part III has a few problems...it's not as awful as everyone lets on but key parts of it are very stupid...

The fantastic Andy Garcia was utterly wasted in this mess and the Sofia Coppola performance was terrible!

Also, the helicopter attack on a major Commission sit-down was beyond stupid...the behavior of some of these top guys would get them the hole in the woods treatment...NOBODY busts in on a Commission meeting and you can bet your last slice of salami nobody uses an attack chopper...that was unrealistic and terribly stupid
Honestly, the chopper attack ruined the film for me...never mind the crummy acting, the Mob does NOT use Rambo choppers

I did like Michael's eventual fate...I felt that made sense but overall it was not a very good movie

reply

Garcia was outstanding and I initially doubted his casting.

reply

To the disapproval of many I'm sure, I do.

reply

Of course. TGF3 is not as bad as people make it out to be. In fact, I think it's a good film despite it's flaws. It simply isn't a great film like its predecessors.

reply

No, as far as I'm concerned it ends with Part II.

I don't really have a problem with Part III's story, however the execution was so incredibly piss poor. The thing is if it wasn't a Godfather movie it would have been seen as at least a competent film (maybe on the level of A Bronx Tale?) but unfortunately it was connected to two of the greatest films ever made.

ends with part II

reply

Honestly.... to me the story ends with Godfather 1.

I don't feel it was necessary to show Vito Corleone's youth / rise to power, and all that etcetera drivel..
When people tell me part 2 is aCTually better than part 1.. I weep for humanity :(

reply

Part III isn't that bad of a movie, in fact it's a competently made movie and even got a Best Picture nomination, having said that in comparison to the first 2 it's nowhere near that level.
