Agreed... I gotta go with none.

Just thinking about some of the scenes, every scene in fact, is making me laugh out loud right now.

There's one movie funnier than Holy Grail, and that is another Monty Python's, of course Life of Brian.

I really can't think of anything. I recently watched it for the first time in a decade and was still able to quote each and every line by heart...they were all just that memorable. I really can't say the same for any other comedy. Sure there might be some specific scenes from other comedies that I find funnier, but considered as a whole I honestly don't believe this movie has ever been topped. I understand why the randomness and overall silliness of it might put some people off, taste is subjective after all, but no other comedy has ever stuck with me in quite this same way.

I don't think anyone has mentioned "Airplane?"

Sheesh, reading this thread you'd think nothing was funny pre-1980.

Funniest thing ever put on film - ever - was the Marx brothers. Animal Crackers, Day at the Races, Horsefeathers, Monkey Business, Duck Soup, take your pick.

Next funniest - most any Chaplin short.

Next - most any Buster Keaton short.

The Grant stuff. Bringing Up Baby/His Girl Friday/Philadelphia Story.

Laurel and Hardy shorts.

It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad World.

Then we can start talking about excellent modern stuff like Grail, ahead of similar fare like the genre-happy Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein and the surrealities of WC Fields.

After that, the best Brooks, Blazing Saddles/Young Frankenstein, the best Coen brothers, Raizing Arizona/Barton Fink/Big Lebowski, the modern grab-bags like Airplane.

Below that some Woody Allen starts popping up. And much of the other stuff mentioned here.

One that wasn't - Some Like it Hot. Oh, and one more that really should be considered with these - Birdman.
