Rank The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise.

1. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006)
2. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)
3. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)
4. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986)
5. Texas Chainsaw 3D (2013)
6. Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (1995)
7. Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III (1990)
8. Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022)
9. Leatherface (2017)

Very uneven franchise, not uncommon for horror. The two platinum dunes movies and Tobe Hooper's two are amongst my favourite horror movies of all time, all four of those would pretty much be a 10/10. The rest of the franchise? I'm not sure a single entry would get more than a 5/10.

It's really hard for me to rank the TCM movies, because most of them are utter crap, and they're not bad in an entertaining way like the Halloween sequels(for me).

All I know is that the first two, 2003 and 2006 are the best ones, that's all. The rest is awful and can't decide which one is the worst.

Oh indeed brother. Tobe Hooper's two and platinum dunes' two are brilliant, the rest are mediocre or poor.

It's an extremely uneven franchise. Stuff like Friday the 13th is consistently entertaining, I have all the F13 movies in my collection. With TCM I only have the aforementioned four.

NEXT GENERATION IS SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL...OVER THE TOP NONSENSICAL TEETH GNASHING OVER ACTING...BIZARRE CRATIVE CHOICES AND THOSE TWO STARS BEFORE THEY SHINED MAKE IT WELL WORTH THE OCCASIONAL WATCH AND A SPACE IN YOUR COLLECTION.

I enjoy it on some level for a laugh and Matthew McConaughey is awesome in it. I also enjoy TCM 3D as a bit of dumb fun and for Alexandra Daddario. Those two are the best of the rest within the TCM franchise but I don't like them quite enough to own them.

When I want to scratch that TCM-itch but in a fun not so serious way I put on TCM 2 for a spin. It's the best 'dumb fun' entry in the franchise by an absolute country mile. Chop Top and Drayton are hilarious, Stretch is cool, L.G is a lovable goof, Lefty is badass, it's gory and morbid, the underground lair is awesome and the soundtrack kicks ass!

TCM2 IS BY FAR MY FAVORITE OF THE FRANCHISE...AND ONE OF MY 100 ALL TIME FAVORITE FILMS...IT IS AWESOME.

NEXT GENERATION IS SO FUCKING BONKERS...MCCONAUGHEY WITH THAT KNEE BRACE AND TV CLICKER...SCREAM SLURRING...SO MUCH FUN.

3D HAS IT'S MOMENTS FOR SURE...ALL INVOLVING DADDARIO...AND HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE..."DO YOUR THING,CUZ!

Didn't know/remember there was so many of them. I only have those two Tobe Hooper's films and seen probably one or two of the modern ones, but don't remember which ones. They don't show TCM movies on television over here, so the only way for me to watch these would be purchasing dvd's or blu-rays. I don't subscribe to streaming services.

TCM is one of those franchises that has a boatload of random sequels and entries that came out, didn't make a splash and were quickly forgotten about. A bit like Leprechaun and Hellraiser, which have 8 and 11 entries now respectively.

reply

SHIT...THEY STARTED RETOOLING EXISTING SCRIPTS AND ADDING FOOTAGE TO EXISTING FILMS TO ADD TO THE HELLRAISER FLICKS...QUITE FRANKLY MINUS SOME NASTY VISUALS...I DON'T REALLY LIKE ANY OF THE HELLRAISER MOVIES.

I HAVE A LONG TERM LOVE AFFAIR WITH THE LEP THOUGH.

I adore Hellraiser 1 and 2. Will be getting them on 4K this month when they're released. 3 is just okay, I haven't watched 4 or 5 in a long time. I never saw 6 onwards (they were only available on region 1 DVDs in the USA, so my poor British teen self could never watch them. I've made peace with it and have decided against checking those sequels out). I watched the reboot last year... was alright but a bit of a let down.

For Hellraiser 1 and 2 are all I care about really.

The Leprechaun movies are dumb fun. I have some nostalgia for parts 3 and 4 in particular. By the way they're doing a Leprechaun reboot, not sure when it'll be released as it hasn't started filming yet. Could be out in 2025 I guess.

I AM ALWAYS DOWN FOR MORE LEPRECHAUN...I HAVE VIVID MEMORY OF SPLASHING IN THE POOL AS A KID AND MY MOM COMING HOME WITH TAPES FROM THE VIDEO STORE...I GOT OUT AND SAT IN WET SHORTS WATCHING LEPRECHAUN...AND THEN DEMONIC TOYS...MY MOM WAS A HORROR NUT...WE REWATCHED ALL THE LEPRECHAUNS OVER THE YEARS NUMEROUS TIMES.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)

That's it. That's the ranking. A little more sparse than my Halloween ranking:

Halloween (1978)
Halloween III (1982)

The 1974 original is all anyone needs. The rest are utter crap.
