why do people love the friday the 13th films so much?

anyone? my opinion is because they did everything at the highest level in the slasher genre, both in the campy funny and campy serious subgenre. also because jason is the best and ultimate in quality horror villain.

I grew up watching them. They're like comfort food. Some are better than others. The early movies are still kind of scary - especially the final chases in 2 and 3. Part VI and the remake are probably the best overall.

what? what? the remake(reboot) doesn't have a soul. if you are a fan of this series you can't say the remake is one of the best films in this series and you can't say it's a part of this series. it doesn't look, or feel like a friday the 13th film. and there are ways of making a friday the 13th film in the last 20 years look and feel like a friday the 13th film.

look at jason x. it totally looks and feels like a friday the 13th film even though it takes place in space for most of it. also VHS really looks and feels like a movie made in the '80s so people can still make horror movies that look and feel like an '80s movie nowadays.

As with others;

- I grew up watching them in my teens. I have a real nostalgia for them. It's been my favorite franchise since forever.

- They're oddly satisfying, they're comfort films for myself and many others. They just tick all the right boxes. I like the camp settings, the 80s aesthetic, the stalker/voyeuristic camera work, the nudity, the kills, the pacing and the lack of pretense, it knows what it is and owns it. They have a real charm and I enjoy rewatching them over and over again.

- They're consistently fun. Many other franchises are all over the place but F13 is pretty consistent. I've seen people refer to F13 as being like beer, sex & pizza "even when it's bad it's good". I enjoy most entries and the few I don't care for are still decent enough and better than other franchises poor entries.
