shareEdward Scissorhands and Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain (Amelie). You might not like them as much as Cinema Paradiso, but I did. They are both emotional, and Scissorhands has some fantasy in it. Both scores of the movies are also amazing. Enjoy!
shareIf you're searching for great films (like Cinema Paradiso) that have an emotional impact, I have to recommend Paris, Texas. Both films deal with lost love and learning to deal with the choices you've made, and both films do it extremely well.
shareAlthough it could be difficult to find, I can recomend "El Día que murió el silencio" from Paolo Agazzi. If you can find it, I think you would like it. The problem is that is a bolivian movie, so it is not known.

shareI agree The Bicycle Thief is a film that grabs you by the heart in the same way. Umberto D is another that affected me emotionally in a similar way (and even more than The Bicycle Thief), although it isn't about a small boy but rather an old man and his dog. And Nights of Cabiria also has its moments - all of these are beautiful emotionally resonant Italian movies.
I would say The Majestic. Both are very emotional and focus around a movie theatre. A lot of people dislike it (it has 6.7/10 on IMDb), which I think is because it is very cheesy and sentimental. However, once you get over that, it's a great movie, reminiscent of Frank Capra.
