I can see why most hardcore Friday the 13th hates this - it has a story

Ok, the story is pretty dumb, but at least there is more than just Jason killing people in this movie. Compared to other Friday the 13th movies I think this one is pretty decent and I am surprised by the low score.

I think you're confusing the terms "story" with "change of scenery"

This movie has the same story as the others. Jason comes back to life, he kills teengagers, gets defeated until the next movie. That's it.

The only thing different is that he is on a boat, and then in NY, and that's it. And quite frankly it was terrible!

It has about as much story as the previous ones really. I like these Friday films more than pre-Jason Lives because at this point the film makers were self aware of how silly the whole concept was and started to have fun with Jason.

It's Jason killing teenagers on a boat. Instead of in a campground.

I am a hardcore Friday fan(and a hardcore Friday the 13th fan) and I like this movie simply as a guilty pleasure. But here's why the movie was hated:

It's called: Jason Takes Manhattan

-80 percent of the movie takes place on the boat.

-Only a few shots of Manhattan were filmed in Manhattan as that's all they could afford.

-The rest of Manhattan is filmed elsewhere and is basically a bunch of alleyways with garbage.

-Jason's face at the end is the most budget *beep* Jason face ever(I guess that we can give it a slight pass since it was supposed to be melting.

-Jason teleports in physically impossible ways on a boat.

-The ending of the movie is: "Every night the sewers are flooded with waves of acid and it hits Jason turning him into a normal little kid with swimming trunks.

Like I said, I like this movie being a hardcore fan of the series, even though it has ginormous flaws. I will say what upsets me the most(other than the ending and Jason's face sucking) is the amount of missed opportunities. Really most of this happened because they kept cutting the budget. If this movie had a big budget and they were able to do even half of the stuff that had originally planned(or at least for the movie to actually take place in Manhattan the entire time), this would have been AWESOME!!!

So what? Who cares but Wikipedia?

In a lot of ways backstreets of Manhattan are alleyways and garbage.

-Jason's face at the end is the most budget *beep* Jason face ever(I guess that we can give it a slight pass since it was supposed to be melting.

You answered it yourself there.

-Jason teleports in physically impossible ways on a boat.

It's the 8th installment of the series. 8th!!! A LOT of water under the bridge. By now Jason is a supernatural monster in many aspects. Did you sleep through the previous 7 movies?

-The ending of the movie is: "Every night the sewers are flooded with waves of acid and it hits Jason turning him into a normal little kid with swimming trunks.

Most movies stretch the imagination regarding human behaviour, physics i.e. the way sh*t work. Friday the 13th being in a highly imaginative genre it doesn't disappoint. Very commonplace in Hollywood to look for convenient outs. It's not about realism, it's about if it's entertaining...and it is.

It's average at best...The producers pulled the old bait and switch...Jason takes Manhattan??? More like Jason takes over a boat and then shows up in Manhattan in the last 20 minutes...

The feeling we have here — remember it, take it home and do some good with it. Please be kind
