Another plot hole

Why the heck would the Nazis ever leave Henry and Indy in that room unguarded? Of course they are going to try to escape. They knew all about Indy and how good he was, heck he escaped from an underground chamber that was covered with snakes, they never would have not had at least one guard in the room.

reply

This is an example of an implausibility, not a plot hole.

A plot hole is a statement or event that contradicts earlier events in the story.

reply

Give me a break.

reply

That's what the Jones boys asked ..

reply

They were tied to a chair in a castle teeming with Nazis. I can forgive them for letting their gaurd down.

reply

No Nazi would ever leave a man like Indiana Jones alone they know from the first film how skilled he is, it is a plot hole

reply

Takes one to know one.

You really have a hard on for hating this movie don't you?

Is there a movie you consider to have no plot holes? Seems like you could find a hole in a new pair of socks.

reply

Ummm are you calling me a Nazi? That seems like kind of an overreaction for just not liking this stupid movie.

Plenty of movies don't have plot holes to this magnitude (Original Star Wars, Godfather I and II, Pulp Fiction, Apocalypse Now, Dark Knight Trilogy, the first two Indiana Jones movies, Platoon, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Interstellar, etc.)

reply

Yes i was. It was a joke.

To this magnitude? you are nitpicking. At least find me a real plot hole. I have no problem with this movie having a plot hole. You are just yet to point an actual one out.

reply

That is a serious plot hole because the Nazis never would have left them alone meaning they never would have escaped and therefore the rest of the movie couldn't have happened.

reply

I'm over talking to a brick wall. Have a nice day.

reply

Your concession is noted

reply

Eat a sandwich.

reply

I will, I am a huge fan of Jersey Mikes, I think I'll go there tomorrow.

reply

...they know from the first film how skilled he is

I am pretty sure Nazis from 1938 were not aware of a film from 1981 🤔

reply

The Nazis from 1938 where aware of the Nazis from 1936. Both raiders and crusade take place in the same universe numb nuts

reply

But they have not SEEN THE FILM numb nuts

reply

But they are aware of the events of the first film because in the universe of Last Crusade, Raiders is canon, numb nuts. Raiders of the Lost Ark is not a movie in the universe of Last Crusade, quit trolling and start taking this seriously or stop posting.

reply

Funny thing is you love the Nolan Batman trilogy that is loaded with plot holes compared to this one

reply

How the heck would the Nazis in this film know anything about the events of the first film? There was no one left alive at the end of the first film to tell them what happened.

reply

Ummmm I think they would have known about hundreds of their comrades dying. Also the Nazis knew who Indy was even before he even made it to Egypt, Toht was the one following Indy to Nepal.

reply

No, the Nazis would have no reason to even suspect that Indiana Jones was there. All those Nazis were just wiped off the face of the Earth. There is absolutely no way that they would conclude that Indiana Jones did that.

reply

Toht knew about Indy before they even got to Egypt, Indy would have been someone of high priority to the Nazis and I’m pretty sure the Nazis in LC would have known about hundreds of their comrades being wiped out by a college professor.

reply

How? How would they know about hundreds of their comrades being wiped out by a college professor? The only people alive who witnessed it are Marian and Indy himself. The Nazis wouldn't have any way of even knowing that Jones was there.

reply

Uhhh when they didn’t report back in think it’s a dead giveaway and they would have known they disappeared looking for the arc of the covenant while Indiana Jones was and Indiana Jones is still alive.

reply

There is a little known journal diary by Adolf Eichmann found after the war that addressed that. When contact with the search and recover team was lost, they sent troops to the island where they found nothing but some equipment. No Arc, no troops, no Belloq, no bodies, no nothing.

Since Colonel Dietrich and Major Toht were suspected homosexuals, Eichmann assumed that they, along with Belloq (he's French, why not?) ran off with the Arc to do some kinky shit with it, or sell it in San Francisco or Providence.

WWII started shortly after the Arc was recovered and the Nazis abandoned all attempts to locate the gay trio and recover the Arc.

reply

The Nazis who weren't in Egypt would have known that their comrades were in Egypt looking for the arc of the covenant. The Nazis who were in Egypt would have told the Nazis who weren't in Egypt about Indiana Jones. This isn't that hard.

reply

The Nazis who weren't in Egypt would have known that their comrades were in Egypt looking for the arc of the covenant
.

But they didn't. Eichmann's journal clearly explained quite clearly what happened on the island and their theory of what happened. You're supposition isn't supported by historical fact.

reply

I don’t seem to remember a journal being introduced in any of the Indiana Jones films, it sounds like you are making up your own fan fiction.

reply

Even still. This means that Indiana Jones single handedly wiped out an entire Nazi squad without a trace. If they had that suspicious about him the next 2 years would have been just them trying to assassinate this one man army don't you think?

reply

Indy was in the United States, they would have had to invade the United States in order to do so, so no there wasn’t much they could do.

reply

You don't know he was in the US. It's not explained in the movie and we have to adhere to your "logic" in this thread apparently.

reply

Indy’s job is in the US, the Nazis can’t just invade the US and kill him.

reply

I think you should watch Austin Powers.

reply

I already have.

reply

This is not a plot hole. If anything, its a character error in judgement. Not everything you fail to understand is a plot hole

reply

wait , what ??
Are you feelng ok Millsey?

reply

Its very frustrating seeing so many people misuse the term plot hole. The poster I responded to is one of the biggest offenders

reply

Look, if Millsey says it's not a plot hole it's good enough for me!!!!

reply

He did appoint himself the authority on these things , so i'll go with his ruling

reply

This must be the stupidest post in this site

reply

You think it's stupid because you yourself are too stupid to recognize how flawed this POS movie is.

reply

JESUS CHRIST, MCU497, stop talking trash on movies that are older than YOU and are almost like THEME PARK RIDES in their execution!!

reply

Naw I think I will talk about whatever I want, you need to wake up and recognize that this movie is flawed

reply

You need to relearn the definition of a plot hole - this is a TERRIBLE attempt ☹️

reply

No it was a very accurate success. Last Crusade is riddled with plot holes.

reply

Sorry dude, the old 'say it enough times and it becomes true' narrative isn't going to work in this instance.

reply

The truth is true no matter how many times you say it.

reply

And the truth is this is not a plot hole.

reply

No it very much is, the Nazis never would have left the two of them alone. If the heroes succeed because the villains are stupid then that doesn’t make the heroes anything special. Not to mention in order for Indy to escape the Nazis have to do things they would never do in any universe.

reply

Absolute mental gymnastics dude LOL

That is not a plot hole at all. In fact it was previously established that the Nazi units involved in this division weren't as discliplined as you're trying to say, meaning the event fits perfectly within the IJ universe.

We see Indy infiltrate/escape them many times, even in raiders.

Clown.

reply

The Nazis were well aware that Indy escaped a pit 2 stories under the ground filled with cobras. Escaping a chair he’s tied to is nothing in comparison. The plot moving forward was dependent upon the villains being stupid, that is a serious issue.

Dumbass.

reply

It's not a plot hole, think harder if you are trying to engineer one moron.

reply

It very much is a plot hole, the Nazis have to act in a way they would never act in order for the plot to move forward

reply

It's consistent with the films, only morons and casuals would think this is a pothole.

At least you get to choose the hill you will die on.

reply

It’s not consistent at all, in Raiders they shut him up under the surface of the Earth surrounded by venomous snakes, in Temple of Doom they drugged him and made him a mindless servant, in Last Crusade they just left him alone and didn’t even search his pockets to make sure he didn’t have a lighter. Even Dr. Evil isn’t that stupid and he’s supposed to be parodying stupid villains. It very much is a plot hole.

reply

He infiltrates Nazi bases and operations MULTIPLE times in Raiders.

Heck he ACCIDENTALLY finds Marion in THE MIDDLE of a Nazi base walking around in a terrible disguise LOL!!!

Nazis arent even in temple...

reply

You said it was consistent with the other films and it wasn’t. In the first two when Indy was captured there was a legitimate reason to think that there was no way he could escape. In the third one they instead basically left the door open for him to walk out of. Whether the Nazis were in Temple or not is 100% irrelevant and that argument is a non sequitur.

As for his disguise no one could see his face and he was dressed exactly the same way as just about everyone else.

reply

No it was the CLASSIC put them in a situation and assume it will go to plan.

Real Nazis would have just shot them.

Its consistent and you need to think harder.

reply

You said that leaving them alone unguarded tied to a chair was consistent with the other films, it clearly wasn’t.

Leaving him in a dark pit surrounded by poisonous snakes/drugging him with the blood of the Kali have a much smaller chance of failure than just leaving him alone, unguarded in a room that isn’t even locked.

reply

Real Nazis would have shot them.

If you can dig your way in you can dig your way out.

What is this moron month or something?

reply

You underestimate his stupidity. I'd say dick-head of the decade.

reply

They were going to shoot them but Elsa said that if they couldn't find the diary they would need them.

reply

In raiders they would have shot them.

reply

In Raiders the chances for escape were next to nothing, they didn’t know Indy could have escaped from plowing through the wall. They wanted them to die in the most freaky way imaginable because they are sadists. Also at the time the Nazis didn’t know what a badass Indiana Jones was. They had never heard of him until just recently, in Last Crusade they had known about him for a full two years.

reply

It was easily escapable, and this was days after he was walking in and out of their camp undetected. They were incompetent.

Also the nazis LOST WW2, mostly because they were incompetent.

reply

They were dressed the same as the diggers were and no one could see their faces, that's how they infiltrated the camp you idiot. Also you are grasping at straws, if you somehow demonstrate that the Nazis in Raiders were idiots you would not have excused the idiocy of the Nazis in Last Crusade.

Also the Nazis didn't know the pit was easily escapable so that's not an issue.

Uhhhh the Nazis literally succeeded in annihilating the Jewish race in Europe. They were far from incompetent and you are now border lining on a Whoopi Goldberg gaff.

reply

You already went full RT dude, this was never a plot hole and now you're trying to perform mental backflips in a DESPERATE attempt to hang in it LOL

reply

Not really, I’ve just debunked your pathetic excuse of this idiotic movie. Maybe next time you shouldn’t base your premise on logical fallacies.

reply

Facts established:

1) You obviously don't know what a plot hole is.
2) This is not a plot hole.
3) You are a moron

reply

1) I know exactly what a plot hole is
2) This is a plot hole
3) You are a moron

reply

1) No you don't

2) HAHAHA!!!

reply

It was the map room that was underground. And the snakes were asps. We only see 1 cobra on screen.

reply

No I’m talking about the well of souls, and by your own admission there were cobras there so I was not wrong in what I said .

reply

The Well of Souls was clearly shown to be above ground. Even when Indy and Marion escape, they're above ground. Also, as I said, only 1 cobra is ever show.

reply

The only way to escape and be level with the ground was to crash through a wall. From
the point at which he entered the well of souls it was underground dingleberry. Also the fact that you only saw one cobra doesn’t mean there weren’t others. Idiot

reply

This is coming from someone who thinks there is only 1 car in all of Europe in 1938...

reply

I never said that, I simply didn’t accept the assertion that a magical car just came out of the ground. If they did indeed drive the whole way then we need to see the car. The last time we saw them they were stranded on a beach in hostile territory. That is a huge plot hole.

reply

Maybe Bruce Wayne gave them a lift? After all he can travel intercontinental without being questioned.

reply

First you’d have to establish that Bruce Wayne exists within that continuity, secondly Bales Bruce Wayne was not alive in 1938, nice try

reply

Here we are discussing how to escape from a pit, and here you are digging yourself one.
You demand to see the method how Indy and his father manged to travel across Europe, which isn't on screen, yet Bruce Wayne travelling across the planet, which isn't on screen either, gets a free pass.

reply

Except there is a logical explanation as to how he got back if you simply paid attention to the film.

The same cannot be said for Last Crapade. And actually you should apply that logic to yourself, here you are bitching and moaning about not knowing how a skill ninja was able to sneak back into a city, yet you don't seem to care how a college professor and his bumbling oaf of a Dad escaped hostile territory and traveled over 1000 miles in a matter of seconds.

reply

There is no explanation in the film. Only your complete fantasies explain his journey back.
He has no money or passport. The only thing is he's next to a village. Everybody in the village knows there's a prison right next to it, so what do you think they do when a complete stranger turns up on their doorstep who clearly isn't a local?

>The same cannot be said for Last Crapade.
Let's see:

They've taken off from Germany in a blimp, so no problems there. They're also going to another country, so no problems crossing borders.
Germany is land-locked to the south, so when they land by the coast they cannot be in Germany anymore. Looking at the map, I guess Turkey. So no Germans on the borders there looking for them.
Finally, there's no indication of them having no money nor passports. So no problems travelling.
Oh and no time limit either.

reply

If you understand Bruce’s character it’s not hard to figure out nor is it a problem so it’s a non issue in the case of TDKR. However the same cannot be said for a college professor and his bumbling idiot of a father who not only A) made it out of hostile territory but B) traveled over 1000 miles in the span of a few hours (Bruce had weeks)

false equivalence on your part

reply

How do you know it took only a few hours though? That's a false assumption which totally undermines your argument.

reply

Watch the movie, it’s clear it only took a few hours. It’s not a false assumption at all. We see a sunrise over Hatay after Indy and Henry are stranded on a shoreline indicating it’s the next day.

EDIT: It’s pretty pathetic that I know more about this movie than you do.

reply

Sunrise indicates the time of day, not how much time has actually passed. Your inability to understand this makes me wonder if there are windows on your mother's basement.
