Barnes was initially offered 25% of Cobra Kai but almost immediately got Silver to capitulate and give him 50%.

I guess Silver was desperate to recruit a champion. Mind you, he knew he could have gotten any bum off the street to mop the floor with Whinielle in a fight..but he had to ensure he got someone who would be guaranteed to make it to the final round of the tournament (knowing Whinielle would get a disgraceful bye to the final).

Still, he went from 25% to 50% pretty quickly.... was Barnes bluffing when he declined the counter offer of 35%?

Also when Barnes saw how quickly his 50% demand was met, do you think he could have pressed his luck and demanded 60%-70% from Silver?

Just how high was Silver willing to go to buy Barnes services?

The better question would be how deep was Barnes buried after failing Mr Silver?

Silver didn't punish Barnes for losing too badly:

Silver: "Barnes.. you screwed up by not getting that damn last point on Whinielle but at least you made him experience true pain, fear and abject humiliation in front of the whole tournament. No one will ever call Whinielle a champion again. It's my fault for making you win a point and lose a point which gave you literally no room for error. As a consolation prize I will award you with a 0.1% stake in Cobra Kai dojos."

Pure fantasy. Nobody fails Terry Silver and gets off lightly.
0.1% in dojos that never happened isn't really a punishment either

Do we really KNOW if the dojo's never happened?

There was a near 30 year gap between KK3 and Cobra Kai.

Yes we do.It was Johnny who kick started the new generation of Cobra Kai. It hadn't existed since the Barnes thing in 85. It even says so in the Cobra Kai series when Johnny wants to enter the competition.

Maybe Cobra Kai didn't enter any sanctioned tournaments since 85.

But maybe the dojo's continued for the next 10 years or so and held underground tournaments to the death not plastic trophies?

Odd you should say that when you previously basked in the glory of them winning the All Valley after more than 30 years.
Just accept it all went tits up for Cobra Kai, but now they have risen again.

The dojos could have made $20,000,000 in those 10 years and Barnes would have received .1% or $20,000

Pure fantasy without any basis in fact.

No, Barnes probably ended up in toxic sludge headed for landfill in Borneo. At least that is a more realistic scenario for failing Mr Silver.

As an aside, may I just say that the world is a much cleaner, safer place thanks to men like Terry Silver. Think of all the good children who will never be exposed to the perils of chloride sludge thanks to his hard graft.

He is. He originally tried out for the part of Mike Barnes. The audition is on youtube www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YLQ_rrO9iI . TBf, he didn't do a bad job. In fact the part of Snake was created especially for him on the back of that audition.

Agree completely, I always liked the character of Snake well before I heard he was the director's son. I liked Barnes too, despite the movie being a step well below the original, I thought the "villains" were well cast. The top of my wish list for Cobra Kai season 3 is an appearance by Terry Silver and I also wouldn't mind Mike Barnes popping up.

Originally Mike Barnes was a fan of Whinielle who became obsessed with beating him in the tourney.

A bit more interesting take than being a hired gun who was in it for the money.
