The Doc was the most insufferable character

She was constantly going against Dalton, she seemed to have sympathy for these disgusting bad guys who kill and ruin peoples lives, when Dalton killed Jimmy she runs to his body to try and help him and see if he's alive. The guy just tried to murder an old man and has been the main henchman that does all Brad's dirty work and has no care for anyone and will kill anyone, yet shes checking on him to see if he's ok, then looks at Dalton like he's the devil and walks away.

And that whole speech she gives Dalton in his loft makes zero fucking sense "You think you're gonna save these people from Brad Wesley? well whos gonna save em from you?!!!!" um why would they need saving From Dalton? he's a good guy, he's trying to take down an evil overlord that controls the town and everyone in it, its not like he's gonna take Brad's place and rule over the town.

Then at the end when Brad gets killed she looks horrified as if the love of her life just got killed, then ten seconds later shes swimming with Dalton looking happy and laughing. Her character was all over the place and annoying as fuck.

not everythings black and white.
She saw things from a different point of view because she'd seen the story totally differently to how the viewer of the movie had.

the jimmy incident specificlly :
maybe she's one of these people who thinks criminals should get a trial before execution.

Agree. She was consistent in one important thing: she hated violence and as a doctor, hated to see people die. She thought there were always other options than death.

It would appear that she started seeing those shades of gray when she finally (to her credit) realized just how far Wesley would go to ruin or even kill people.

Lol no one wants a character like that in a fun fighting movie, its annoying, someone who hates fighting and violence constantly lecturing our main character and talking down to him and feeling sorry for the bad guys when they get what they deserve.

I feel like the actress was the wrong choice. She lacked personality and seemed disinterested in the role or film.

reply

Yeah i didn't even think she was all that pretty, Dalton was way out of her league.

reply

I found her to be too thin and shapeless. I agree Dalton could have done a lot better.

That mullet diminished his appeal substantially, even back in the 80s

reply

The word would be “uninterested.” “Disinterested” means “impartial.”

You really need to brush up on your word usage. You mistook “curtsy” for “bow.”

I have always believed in the original draft of the script Doc was Brad's ex-wife and still harbored feelings for him. Many of her actions make more swnse if she was

reply

If not ex-wife, then perhaps romantically involved at some point. I don't recall there being any mention of Doc and Wesley every being linked in the film, correct?

reply

Theres a scene where Cody is talking to Dalton and told him something like "Word is you've been spending time with Elizabeth Clay, You know who had a thing for Elizabeth Clay? Brad Wesley, as i hear it she left town and he went nuts".

So they established Brad had a thing for her, but she never cared about him. Which makes Wesley even angrier when he knows Dalton is seeing her which is why Cody was telling him cause he knew it would incite Wesley even more to fuck with him to try and get him out of town.

reply

Ah, I do remember that. So that pretty much clarifies that Doc and Wesley did not have any sort of relationship. Thanks.

reply

Yeah Brad was just obsessed with her.

When he's talking to her after the monster truck crushed the cars at the dealership he tells her "He's a drifter ya know, hate to see you end up with someone like that" "You get him outta here Elizabeth, cause if you don't he's going down, and i wont lose second of sleep over it" cause you can tell he can't stand it shes with Dalton and not him.

She really was annoying as fuck. I get that she wanted to be a doctor at heart and "save lives, not take them" (think Doctor Steven Strange), I can respect that. But, Brad was a douche-nugget like no other and she's not servicing his dong anymore for a reason. No... she went for Dalton's commando pork and got her patch plowed on the roof for fuck sake...in front of Brad's house across the goddamn river.... spare me the babe-of-the-woods routine, strumpet.

Jimmy "I used to fuck guys like you in prison" tried to kill Emmet and was going to shoot Dalton since Dalts got the better of him in their fight down by the riverside...Dalton doesn't lose - fuck you... but still, the gun... would it be okay if Doc runs up just as a bullet goes through Dalt's melon. Oops, sorry, hun - no more kung-fu dong for you. Would she have said to Jimmy, "Well, mullet-master is dead - how's about you fuck me like you did those guys in the pokey"....?

It's like she was giving Dalt the Caesar of Rome bullshit if he takes out Brad "JCPenny is coming here because of me" Wesley? She was a candyass.
