What Are Your Favorite 'Get A Life' Episodes?

My all-time favorite has to be the one where there's a toxic waste leak and chris gets smarter and goes to spelling bee contests. Other ones i really thought were funny are the episode with spewey the alien and the one where he builds a submarine in his bathtub (the part where he does the "jaws" line about the shark's eyes is hilarious). Let me know which ones everyone else really liked.

My fav is the one with Martin Mull, who was playing a celeb on the show. Chris sent in 3000 postcards to guarantee that his name would be selected from the drum. So many great lines for Chris and M. Mull for that whole show.
another great one had the family reunion and cousin "Donald."

This is a highly-sophistimicated doowacky.

I loved the ancient Indian arrowhead episode. Chris and Larry remove an arrowhead from behind the mall and they switch personalities. Chris became Larry and Larry became Chris. I loved the part when Chris says, "will you shut-up Larry-Chris it's me Chris-Larry."

I also loved the ruffians episode. Chris says, "leather jackets, switchblades, bad nicknames, why you all are ruffians."

How about the Transistor Hut episode when he bought that piece of crap watch?
I believe it was a Chronasinc 2000. Chris:"Now it stopped ticking, is that a problem?" Salesman:"No, that's what's called a tap watch. You just tap it like that and it keeps it from wearing out." (or something to that effect) Chris gives this look of approval and smiles.

I must admit the show started getting a little silly during the 2nd season. If the 1st season were available I'd be all over that. Classic.

the part in the Ruffians episode when Chris decides to go first in telling the gang about a traumatizing experience...

'when i was younger...i was afraid of taking showers.. because, you know that little thing where the water comes out? i thought there was an eye in there.. watching me.''

reply

Yes, the Martin Mull episode was great, "Sidney, I made a throne for you...isn't it fanciful?" LOL

My faves
Handsome Boy Modeling School
The Toxic Waste
Stuck upside down on a rollercoaster

So many I can't think of and they should release the DVDs!

the excellent excellent time traveling one was written by charlie kaufman---the man who wrote being john malkovitch and adaptation and eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. makes so much sense in retrospect!

i like the obsession one...chris starts stalking a woman only to have a woman stalking him...pretty good,

i quite like walletboy too....meet john doe was a favorite of my dad and step mom's they would recommend it to me every time it came on tv when i was growing up, and this one ep i thought was a fine parody of that old movie. (it also has chris saying something like "and now i'm off to journey into the big city, uh dad how do you remove this area of the wall? you mean the door chris? yeah, why don't you try turning the doorknob sitcking out of it, oh ok.")

i think my favorite one though may be the one where they go camping and chris brings out a woman's shoe and 3 staplers and his lucky can of soup....they can send a man to the moon but they can't make a can of soup that you can open by beating it against a rock. that ep is too ridiculous for words. its prob my favorite because it happened to be the first time i ever watched it, catching it on a special airing after the simpsons one time waay back when remember watching that with my dad, and my dad going what the hell was that? was that a show? oh man it was great, wished chris elliot had more of a career getting to make the movies he wanted to like cabin boy and so fourth.....ah those were the days.

season 2 got a whole level crazier then season 1 was. (that was the season where chris got killed at the end of every ep too!)

i wish they would put the whole darn series on dvd already, but given that's not likely to happen anytime soon, at least we have the memories right folks? oh nuts to that i want the dvd's!!!
oh well....

the white zone is for unloading passengers...

who shot who in the what now?

Dadicus is not my favorite episode, but it has one of my favorite lines:

CHRIS says to a fellow paper boy:

"How do you even know who Buster Crabbe is!? You're ten-years-old and you know who Buster Crabbe is?? That's sick!"

reply

I loved them all, but probably the family reunion with donald was my favorite. Aunt Shirly and the missing heart pills, the tuna balls in Donald's car, I just can't wait for it all to be on dvd!!!!!!!!!!!!

reply

I love the Donald episode also. "Donald Donald Donald" Jackie Earl Haley from Bad news bears was perfect. I Recorded all 35 episodes and still watch them from time to time. Back in the day my buddy and I liked The "Sandy" episode and the Construction Worker one. I about lost it when Sandy and Chris were goofing off with afternoon delight playing in the background. Then Probally The "Chronasync" Watch, one.. did you all know that it's the "cadillac" of underwater watches!!!!! Ohhhh and Let's make a pact not to eat him all tonight cause' he's gonna make some terrific sandwiches...SPEWEY and sorry I can't stop there. The amish adoption one I also love , Ohh and where he dates the old lady...............................actually there all my favorite except for "HOt Dog Boy"..............

reply

Oh no, how can you not like Hotdog Boy! "C'mon gimme a hotdog kiss." Hilarious! Loved the episode. In fact, I've been using hotdoggirl as my username on pretty much every message board/user account I've had since it aired. "Hotdog boy's invincible!"

reply

Sorry hotdoggirl, for some reason I did'nt like that one that well. I will watch it again and see if I missed anything. I didn't like the "Walletboy" episode or "Zoo Animals on wheels" until I saw them a few times. Cool username though.........

reply

His construction pickup line: "Eat that cheese, honey! Nice shoes."

Pluck that banjo

The one where Chris goes to "the big city", he gets slipped a mickey, and ends up getting the key to the city at the end because he was mugged. The press was calling him "wallet boy" or something like that.

Also, the episode where Chris is somehow tamed, broken down by his neighbors wife. He becomes her servant, and it is F'in hilarious!!

reply

I liked the one where they joined the father and son American Gladiator type competition.

Absolutly..Spewey and the "Sub in the tub" were my favs too!!

I may be in the minority, but my favorite episodes both had Gus in them after Chris had moved out. I loved the first episode where he's looking for an apartment and when he asks Gus if the has the right address, he has it completely wrong.

Second favorite is the time travelling episode. Gus was a hilarious character.

Chris: "I was looking for 23 Maple, and this is..."
Gus: "1804 York Lane."
Chris: "Oh, I bet you get that a lot, what with the phonic similarities."

reply

I liked Gus too. His advice to Chris in "Girlfriend 2000" is one of my favorite series moments.

And I can't believe no one has mentioned "The Prettiest Day of My Life." Another great Brian Doyle Murray episode.

reply

When he gets replaced by the robotic paperboy machine. "This is nothing like living in space, you moron!"

"C'mon Bart! The Coast Guard's covering the Doobs!"

reply

I think I laughed the hardest at the episode where the toxic gas gives Chris the ability to spell every world, including "pants". Usually it would be disturbing to see a man peel off his own ear and have a second mouth form in his stomach, but in Get a Life, those antics were just hilarious. And I absolutely love Gus' line to that spelling bee constestant: "Hey kid, squirt your tears into this paper daffodil!" HAHAHAHA!

I also particularly adore the episodes where Chris becomes a food inspector, when he gets his tonsils removed, when he manipulates Gus and Sharon when they have amnesia, and when he gets locked in the freezer with Sharon. I definitely preferred the season 2 episodes.

reply

Rainysky, thank you for saying Chris' Brain Starts Working. It's the most over the top ridiculous episode in the series. Toxic waste gives Chris the ability to spell and Gus origami skills. They naturally decide to enter all of the spelling bees on Earth and the Moon to win a jewel encrusted dictionary which they will sell for money.

"All right...K?"

reply

Finally someone who shares the same episode as me, the spelling bee episode. Come on, when Chris is under pressure and has to spell pants; after the usual "could you use the word in a sentence" and "is there another pronunciation", "uh...k p a n t s". I also like Gus' line about how "spelling bees have the best wet bars, I wasted!"

reply

I don't know why, but I love it when Gus looks at the crumpled piece of paper in his hand and realizes the toxic waste is wearing off. Brian Doyle Murray made a great show even better.

reply

the one with the alien Spewey has me in stitches every time, particularly when the alien is showering the houses contents with slime\puke\goo, and after somebody compains, chris says "Don't you see, he's teaching us about love!"

THis episode is guaranteed to drop every jaw in the room.

reply

Spewey is my all-time favorite episode.

"special person entering world....egg yolks!"
