Favorite part in move?

Hey everyone, whats your favorite part in this movie? Mine would have to be without a doubt when Martin gets knocked off the boat by the sander!

reply

how can one choose? it's like asking a mother to name her favorite child...

yes, yes, i'm kidding...

i'll pick one no one else will.... where martin is on the phone trying
to talk to the boat broker, and that intense lookin dude is just
staring at him, inches from his face...

i know, can you believe i think that's hilarious? ya gotta really
look at the guy... it was understated genius.

Are we going to any Human type places?' - 'You've heard of St Croy?' - 'Yeah!' - 'We're going to the Island just to the left of it' - 'Oh, whats it called?' - 'Teds!'
This cracks me up just reading it

I like the part when he's asleep and he has his patch over his one good eye but they all think he kicked the bucket. lol funny sh*t.

What's my favorite movie?.....When i make it you'll know.

Hard to choose, as I laugh throughout the movie, but I'm partial to the storm sequence when the compass goes flying off, and then when they spot land and Russel gives Short that look while Short is narrating that Captain Ron has proved more cunning than originally thought.

I like the part where he's tying the bricks or whatever to the kids feet, and is getting ready to throw him overboard to look for something.

When Captain Ron is asleep with his eye patch covering his good eye and they think he is dead.

"When Captain Ron is asleep with his eye patch covering his good eye and they think he is dead."

I also laughed loudly (and my husband repeatedly rewound) the part
at the Mardi-Gras/Carnivale, when Capt Rob looses his eye, and you
see it bouncing toward you - (almost 3-D)

Everytime I watch it, I love the part where Martin and Catherine get stuck in the shower...

Ron: Hey uh Boss?
Martin: Yes Captain Ron?
Ron: You know that the uh mop is wedged up against the door?
Martin: Yes I'm well aware of that. Thank you.
Catherine: I wasnt.

TOO FUNNY!!!

Would you like to be my elf?

Then ya gotta love the Captn Ron's eye action as Martin is standing there buttnaked. Too damn funny!

"Man-O-War started rattlin' yesterday and threw a kid on its head".

"Oh God no boss. Yep, think ya mighta broke it."

Captain Ron accidentally knocking his beer bottle over and Martin drops the video camera trying to catch the beer bottle. Cracks me up every time. Hey swab, get me another brewski!

The part when they think he's dead was great.

They grab his wrist for a pulse and he just wakes up freaking out "I didn't do it! I didn't do it, I swear!"

Even better quote of the movie.

Capt Ron: "Yeah. Incentives are important (as he is getting ready to start up the boat) I learned that in rehab." .....Absolutely priceless.

"[holding up a bowling ball] What the *beep* is this?"
"Obviously you're not a golfer."

I liked when he told the kid his parents were "playing hide the salami in the shower", which causes the kid to spit out his beer. It was so funny how casual he said that even though he was talking about the kids parents.

reply

Captain Ron: It's a land of voo-doo, & who-do, & all kind of weird s***.

Ben: Whoah!!!

What we think, we become.

One that I don't think has been mentioned yet...when Captain Ron first meets the Harvey family & boards the boat & Martin says "I'd like you to meet my wife" and Ron mistakes Caroline the daughter for Martin's wife. I crack up when Ron turns Martin around, putting his arm around his shoulder, saying to him the typical "you old dog"-type stuff (I don't recall exactly what he says) thinking Martin married that young hottie. Fun-ny!

Also, when Ben is pushed in to the water by his sister & Martin tells him not to worry & tossses him the life preserver, which is so old & petrified that it sinks like a stone as mom & dad watch!

And of course, the falling asleep with the eyepatch over the good eye scene when they think Ron has died, and the eagle tattoo scene was absolutely hilarious!

Also funny is immediately after that scene, the kid is hiding in the shower & Ron says to Martin they were playing a game & the kid peeks out & says "Yeah Dad...Strip Monopoly!", winces, & slams the door shut again!

my favorite part is when little dude goes to move ron's beer and he's like don't touch that and tell's the little guy if he wanted one to go and get it him self, the look the kid gave, had me laughin,he's like HELL-YEAH!without having to say it...lol

reply

"You heard of St. Croix?"
"Yeah!"
"We're going to the island to the left of it."
"Whats it called?"
"Ted's!"
"...'TED'S?'"

lol

When that sander turns back on and Martin Short gives that squeal and then that leap into the water. I could watch that scene for days!

The trapped in the shower scene is pretty funny, the broom handle wedged against the door, the wash cloth covers the drain, and the handles break off so the water can't be turned off.

But my favorite scene was always the loss of the map and the loss of the compass. The guerrillas reaching over the side frantically crying out as the compass and map are wisked away by the wind.

Priceless.

I had to watch that over and over again when I was a kid.
