Do I need to watch The Evil Dead 1 & 2 first

I got my hands on Army of Darkness without realizing it's the third movie in a franchise. Can I watch it as a standalone movie and still understand what's going on, or do I need to watch the other two movies first?

nah , its pretty much standalaone , as is the 2nd one too.

The movie recaps the events of the first two movies in the opening narration. I think watching Evil Dead 2 at least might be a good setup but otherwise, have fun.

Thanks. I was worried it might be like trying to watch Back to the Future Part 3 without seeing parts 1 and 2.

You NEED to watch ED 1 and 2, and take notes too.

You can watch it without seeing the others. At the beginning there is a short summary of pretty much everything you need to know. Enjoy!

To understand what's going on? Nope.

For the heck and fun of it hell yeah. At least Evil Dead 2. Actually only Evil Dead 2 :D
