I hate watching this as an intelligent person. Huge mistake!

We have a scene where he literally runs form the Bed and Breakfast and yet he still manages to bump into people at the same places. Sorry, if you leave earlier, they're not going to be there.

reply

Ironically, that's a very unintelligent post.

reply

So what? It's a film.

If you want something to be realistic on every level, don't watch a movie about a guy who lives the same day over and over again.

reply

It could be considered a huge mistake to interject logic on someone else's nightmare.

reply

So you think it was all a nightmare? Interesting.

reply

Only because I can't stand Rita...

Existentialism CAN BE a nightmare if you don't learn how to seize it and make something of it/consciousness.
THAT is the point of this comedy.

Damn, whats' with all the smart-ass replies, we KNOW it's a film, but this is also a message board designed for DICSUSSING the film. I actually wondered about this myself. It's not a HUGE deal, but I wondered it.

I also wondered why Phil didn't run into Ned on the day he gave the homeless guy some money.

reply

Yeah, I found that also pretty odd. Another one is in the end, when the piano teacher tells how proud she is that he is her student. I meant, he was once at her place and was extremely good to begin with.

reply

We do not know that, we do not see the lesson that day. Phil could have feigned being a poor student at start of the lesson and rapidly improving throughout just to bring joy to the nice lady.

reply

She was just trying to make herself sound like a GREAT instructor.

reply

Well you seem extremely arrogant

reply

Right on. My father always told me that anyone who has to tell you he is intelligent must not be too bright. I'm a math geek with an MBA and high stress job, but I don't consider myself extremely intelligent. I like watching movies like this to relax and laugh. It's a comedy and not meant to be taken seriously.

reply

Wait a second. You just told us how intelligent you are.

reply

If you think noticing obvious, minor inconsistencies like this is a sign of intelligence then you have demonstrated both the pathetically low bar of your high self-regard and your arrogance - well done!

Yeah, a lot of people even of average intelligence noticed this. But I called Phil Connors this morning and asked him about this. After he got over his shock of learning that the whole world saw his plight in a film (he never noticed any cameras), he told me that despite waking up at 6 AM as usual, he fell back asleep, so he had to literally run from the B+B to get to the ceremony.
