How old where you when you first watched Jurassic Park?

And how do you feel when watching it again?

I was 7.

For me, I still feel that nostalgic wonder when watching Jurassic Park as an adult. At least now, I get to see it without peeking from between my fingers and I finally understand some of the jokes, conversations and plot complexities.

Just thought I'd ask because I just watched Jurassic World and saw a bunch of kids who were my age when I first watched this, and I wondered how they'd feel if they watched JW again in the next decade or so. I'm just a bit disturbed because this one was far more violent than the first movie. Then again, these kids might be more desynthesized to violence than I was back in the day.

I was 5...and it's still my favorite movie today! And I was lucky enough to marry a fella who has just as much love for it as I do! I actually walked down the aisle to the Jurassic Park theme at my wedding!...I'm a nerd I know..haha. I'm a huge John Williams fan too. Love this film so much!

I was 12 and then I had a mix of total awe and wonder/being utterly terrified. Today, this movie is still one of my all time favorites, and I appreciate it more now as a 27 year old. The effects and puppetry still hold up today and I get goosebumps listening to Williams' music. There's also that great nostalgia feeling, too. Hold on to your butts...

I was 7 too.

I first saw the first 30 mins at a friend's house, and then all of it at home - my parents wouldn't let me see it at the theater, thank god.

Because I ran out of the room at Ray's arm. Ha.

I still enjoy watching it every time.

I appreciate it more and more. Being able to understand it better, and seeing the passion of everyone involved.

Films of this caliber are becoming rarer and rarer.

Spielberg is brilliant.

Jaws, Raiders, JP, TLW, Schindler's List, et al.

I was 7 when it came out in theaters. My older brother got to see this with his friend while my mother took my sisters and I to see another film I cannot recall. It wound up finishing before Jurassic Park, so my mother took us to the theater screening JP (apparently this wasn't an uncommon practice back then) so we'd have something to do rather than just wait aimlessly until my brother and his friend were ready to leave.

I do not recall a film being louder than it was that day screening Jurassic Park. Perhaps it was my youth and sensitivity to movies with loud effects like that (or this being the first film screened with DTS Surround Sound), but my biggest takeaway from the 25 minutes or so of the film I got to see that afternoon was how damn loud the sound effects were.

I probably didn't see the full film until it came out on tape (yes, tape) the following year. By that time I and many of my friends had already started buying up the Jurassic Park action figures, which I'm proud to say I still own to this day (they really were pretty cool). I just watched Jurassic World, and though I know this film is 20 years old, I still think the original had the best looking dinosaurs. Obviously none of us can claim how accurate they were, but they looked the most "real" to me all these years later, and the CGI in that film hasn't aged a bit in my eyes.

Every time I hear the song it's drilled into my head that I think Jurassic Park. Jeff Goldblum cracks me up. Favorite character in the whole series.

I was 6 when I watched it on VHS (a year later after it came out). There is even an old family video having it play in the background and later imitating some of the characters. Today, it is still my favorite and nostalgia factor and the theme, effects (which just learning recently the types of sounds the dinosaurs made is brilliant especially the brachiosaurus scenes). For some reason, I just appreciate the original more and the Jurassic Park movies in general (the first especially of course).

Also, OP, this will help you feel old. If you saw this in theatres age 7, you were younger than the youngest actor in the movie, and you're now older than Laura Dern was in the film.
