What young kid at his age would watch Amadeus???

The scene that always bugged me was when Danny knows that Practice shouldn't be trusted because, "He killed Mozart," and explains to Slater that the actor was from Amadeus and the film won 8 Oscars.

Why would a kid at his age even watch Amadeus?!?! We're talking about the same kid that watched Hamlet and day-dreamed that Schwarzenegger was in it. Do you really think he would sit through Amadeus in a serious manner?!?!?

I shouldn't judge Amadeus. I never saw the movie and probably never will. it's got a score of 8.4 on IMDB so it's a no-brainer it deserves 8 Oscars. But when I was a kid, the movies I concentrated more on were Disney cartoons, action movies, and Sci-Fi and could care less how many awards they won. Amadeus does not land in any of those categories.

"Hail to the King, Baby!"

I did. Not because I wanted to, necessarily, but sometimes as a kid you watch what is in TV. At the time that movie was popular, and the VHS rental game was just firing up, so imagine lots of kids saw it (even though not all of it was age appropriate). Also, the Oscars were big back then too. Everyone knew what won the major categories. It seems people care a lot less about that now. Or maybe that's just me.

Well the older character named Nick who owned the theatre if I remember right seemed to have a close relationship with the boy so he probably recommended those films to him considering they both spent a lot of time there. Having this shared interest in movies.

No person of taste at any age would watch Tom Hulce.

Who?

Exactly.

I watched Amadeus when I was about Danny's age, but I was into quality films.

Danny struck me as a bit of a philistine, so I'm surprised he watched an Academy-Award winning period biopic about a classical composer. It didn't seem to be his thing.

I watched Amadeus when i was a bit younger than Danny in the movie, and I enjoyed it a lot. It's an appealing story about the jealousy of a hard-working person towards a genius who does everything better and without effort. Made me sympathize a bit with Salieri, and I also found Mozart funny, with that silly laugh. I don't know, Amadeus was a popular movie, and I watched it at home with my family. It's certainly not the kind of action blockbuster that Danny loves, but I did not find it strange that he would have watched it. He didn't even need to have liked it, just to have watched at least part of it, maybe when his mom watched it on TV.

I watched Amadeus in '85. Younger than the kid. I watched "Name of the Rose" a couple years later. I watched Koyaanisqatsi at least twice in a row. We had a VHS in '86 so we watched movies all the time. Huge privilege.
I used to watch "Washington Week in Review" with my grandpa. It came on after the second showing of Sesame Street. I also watched the farm report before school. All kids are different.
Kids watch adult stuff sometimes. Kid's a movie buff. If he hadn't watched Amadeus, that would be ridiculous.
Yes, I also liked Disney movies.

You should watch "Amadeus", it's a great movie. Very entertaining.

Maybe for school in music class? Is that a possible justification. It was rated R though, so that's a bit of a stretch to show in a classroom.
