i guess all the current climate change stuff is responsible for this going ahead..

i imagine Costner will feature in that mythical lost figure way - Luke in TFA/TLJ, Deckard in BR2049 (and the main character will probably be the grown up girl from the movie)

Waterworld was cool, but I think The Postman had more potential for a sequel, considering 99% of the earth was not covered by water in that one. I guess location filming and set design will be a lot cheaper for a Waterworld sequel, though.
