Originally liked it..hated it later..enjoyed it this evening.

First off, it's not (nor never was) as good as the original. But when I saw it at the cinema, I enjoyed it (for what it was)
Then over the next twenty years or so (on various formats and occasional TV screenings) I disliked it (bordering on outright hatred)
Anyhow, I'm currently collecting 4K discs now and (for reasons unknown) picked up a copy of EFLA this morning...and to my surprise actually enjoyed it more than I did originally (perhaps it's an age thing...but I can now relate to the campy fun it was intended as)
I had a similar love/hate/love affair with 'EVIL DEAD 2' recently.

Anyone else have similar experiences with movies?

It's got it's place among every other John Carpenter film. Campy b-rated cult film. Carpenter could always get at least one star to keep his movies from being DTV. I think I saw EFLA in theaters upon release, always enjoyed it ever since.

Never liked it. John Carpenter says it is a far superior film to its predecessor. I know it’s campy, but the tone is completely different from EFNY.

I watched it recently and while I enjoyed it for what it was, the original is better. I also felt the ending wasn't very satisfying. Early in the film there are two instances where Snake tries to shoot and kill Brazen and Malloy but they always have the upper hand first by being holograms and then with the empty first clip they added to his weapon and they both mock him for trying to kill them. I was thinking that the movie was building things up for him to finally give them their comeuppance later in the film and kill them but it never happened.
