Jack warned 'em

Back in '12 James Cameron warned that water at those depths is more than just wet.

reply

Like I said in another post, I don't really know why we're getting a lot of "told you so" type quotes.

The fact that the bottom of the ocean is dangerous is fairly common sense. Those that go on these dives understand those risks. It's like saying "Told you space is dangerous" after The Challenger

reply

These people were morons for disregarding everything that was told to them. They made the sub out of cheap parts and didn't want people with proven success to be involved. I pray they didn't suffer, especially that poor 19 year old.

reply

The submersible itself is a separate issue. That absolutely was done wrong.

But there's also a lot of people saying general blanket statements about "well yeah the depths are dangerous."

Duh.

reply

Plenty of people warned that Brexit was a dumb thing to do. We're still saying it and people are still dumb as rocks about it.

reply

Brexit was the best thing that happened to the UK in forever and more countries should consider it.
The romanticized ideal clueless people like you have in mind when they think of the European Union does literally not exist, it's a fantasy and was once a nice idea.

Now look at Brussels and what these overpaid leeches REALLY do and tell me again a country isn't better of being its own sovereign.

While the immediate effects of such a drastic step will of course be negative, in the long run it's the better option and despite the brainless Brexit doomsdayers that try their best to scare people with overblown assumptions, we can already see that within UK's economy which is recovering significantly, contrary to the nonsense "experts" claimed would happen.

Personally, I'd love a functioning European Union. A union of well meaning leaders that work in the interest of the people. Practically, it's a James Bond-like conglomerate of super powerful individuals none of us directly voted that control every aspect of our lives, from tiny details like the fucking oil-temperature french fries can be prepared in to fishing rights, tariffs and what not.

Fearful people always want others to take charge over them, then they at least don't need to face that responsibility themselves. The result is always a bloated, corrupt and opaque government that only serves itself and destroys the people.

Case in point: The majority of the current governments across the western world. USA, Canada, Germany, France, ...

reply

Yup, dumb as rocks.

reply

We noticed this about you, but do you have anything to add?
Like an argument?
No?
Oh, well, surprise...

reply

"we can already see that within UK's economy which is recovering significantly"

Errmmm, HOW? As far as I can see, the UK economy is SHIT at the moment and Brexit has compounded that shittiness to the nth degree. The UK economy is NOT "recovering significantly" AT ALL.

The kid dragged along who didn't even want to be there is the only real tragedy here. All the other guys were idiots.

reply

How do you know he was dragged along?
Anyway, 19 is not a kid. When I was 18, I was considered an adult.
Or has something changed in relation to when you become an adult.
He did not have to go, but he went anyway.
His choice, I would've thought.

reply

It's mere towels.

reply

He was reportedly "terrified" and "very not into doing it".

I saw that in the papers here an hour ago.
Still, at 19 he could have been able to say no and his Dad should respect his wishes.
It makes no matter now, sadly.

reply

Well now it seems "he really wanted to go" and was "so excited" 🤷‍♂️

The boy went as an obligation to his dad on Father's Day. The boy sensed that something bad was going to happen, but he reluctantly went anyway.

reply

250k to do this "trip", what was even the point, really?

reply

1 hour and 45 minutes of chilling and then a bang.

reply

ffs! if you wanna do it, do it right. this is how it's done, jesus...

The 70-year-old Oscar winner was dining at the Wolseley restaurant in London when a photographer told him about the OceanGate sub being declared lost. After saying, "That's awful," Jack added “I warned them", but refused to elaborate.

the whole search was a charade apparently

reply

Used as a cover up for some weapon movements, no doubt, is what right wing conspiracy nut jobs like Kendricks will say.

reply

"Yup, dumb as rocks."
