Do you consider this show racist ?

The main group of friends are all white except Fez but he's not black so do you consider the show racist?

reply

A group of people being all-white is not racist. There have been shows (Sanford and Son, Good Times, etc.) in which everybody on the screen was black. Those shows were not racist, either.

There's more to diversity than black people. T7S had several black characters in the later seasons, but it didn't have any Asian or Indian characters. Do people in those ethnic groups have massive sticks wedged up their backsides? Nope, they get on with their lives. They don't cry about so-called racism in a sitcom that started 23 years ago. Go and watch Living Single if it bothers you that much.

No, it’s not racist. It was a fictional suburb of Green Bay, Wisconsin in the 70s. I grew up in a medium-large North Dakota city in the 70s. My entire friend group, not to mention my entire junior high, and high school, were almost 100% white. Does that make us racist?? Um, no!!

NO

To the OP:

Son, I grew up in the 50s. There was racism back then, I will not deny it. But, where I grew up, people didn't go around like they do today, pointing out every single incident that COULD be racist as racist.
When I was younger, someone older (and much wiser) than I was pointed out that "one can search all their lives for the bad in humanity, be it racism, hatred or other evils, and they will find it. But by focusing on the bad that man is capable of, one will miss all the good man is capable of as well, and will live a sad, angry life."
Let it go. There is racism, but stop trying find it in everything you see and hear.

The OP posits a stupid question. People have the right to choose with whom they select to be.

In other words, stop groping for shit about which to be outraged.
