What's the point of this movie's existence?

The story had been told and end with T2, there was no natural way to continue the story unless you did a future war movie, maybe they just made it as an easy buck recognition off of the name which is the motivation most of the time with sequels.

This movie is basically Terminator 2 beat for beat in a family friendly manner.

Most like of the Terminator sequels this was something made that is pointless.

It meant the chance to have the Skynet attack, so then allow a fourth to focus just on the war.

That's what Terminator Salvation did, but in order to get to that, they had to make T3 first to set it up. While it didn't have the best justification for existing (Judgement Day is inevitable I guess), especially after all the hard work the characters did in T2 to prevent it, it was a good action movie with a powerful ending, and it set the state for future Terminator movies that take place during the war.

reply

yes. total unnessary film that add zero except shock end.

terminator salvations is better sequel. important for film sequel to tell different story and not knock offs of previous successful film. i hate retreads. lazy, no passions.

reply

No point.
The saga ended at T2.
T1 and T2 are the true Terminators.
No one needs to ever watch any other films. They are just money grabs and don't exist as far as I am concerned.

reply

T2 is one of those movies that spawned a lot of unnecessary sequels like the Jaws sequels.

this film was part of arnie's campaign for california governator

t3 is just t2 but with sad endings to set up more shit terminator sequel

terminator 1 is great film. t2 is great rehash of terminator 1. nothing else is worth watch. on t1 and t2 worth watch.

I wouldn’t say it’s family friendly, I mean hell it’s still rated R, but I think the point of its existence is money.

But let’s be honest, at least it’s not as bad as the 3 that came after it.

I always saw T3 as a "what-if" scenario involving the internet. And while it has cringe like the strip club scene, it also has great action sequences. But I really just wish it was the first two Terminator movies.

reply

Just watch the special extended edition of the second movie. It gives the franchise a definitive conclusion and you can now think of 3-6 as fan fiction.

I have.
